We are seeking a strong, visible, clinically credible midwife to provide professional and operational responsibility for Intrapartum Care.

You will provide strong visible leadership and require a passion for embedding clinical support, education and ongoing professional development of staff and a working knowledge of current national maternity quality and safety drivers. You will work to support existing and future research opportunities and innovative midwifery practice. Via effective role modelling, you will ensure and maintain high professional standards and strengthen a culture of support and learning.

This is a newly developed role and an exciting time to join the maternity service as we are currently strengthening the senior midwifery and governance teams to further drive service improvements. The post holder will work closely with and be supported by the Senior Maternity Team and have the scope to implement and embed the Ockenden Immediate and Essential Actions and associated national key deliverables. You will also work closely with the Multidisciplinary Team and our Maternity Voices Partnership.

The post holder will have a key role in delivering the maternity strategy and quality agenda. Will be Instrumental in monitoring and supporting performance and delivery of excellence in midwifery, championing choice for women and their families and providing strong leadership for the midwifery teams.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational and professional management within their designated remit; including budget control, governance, workforce and overseeing the delivery of care in line with our Trusts values.

As a key member and Leader within the multi professional team, ensure appropriate referral, discussions and decisions with other members of the team to optimise patient care and improve patient outcomes and experience within their designated area and wider service.

Supports clinical midwives and support staff to ensure the delivery of evidence based care and best practice including establishing and implementing protocols and guidelines for the Trust.

Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with National and Trust’s evidence based policy’s and Guidelines

To have local open and transparent communication channels that support the staff, teams to do the right thing for people we care for.

1. To provide senior reliable continuous responsibility, leadership and management within service area dealing with day to day clinical issues as they arise
2. Provide senior credible midwifery voice in a variety of settings, attending meetings and forums, challenging where necessary to ensure compassion in care is of the highest possible standard within the Trust, Promoting Maternity services at all times within and out-with the Trust.
3. Throughout the Care Group and with the wider Trust, create and promote a culture where staff are actively involved in the decisions on how services/care are provided, improved and standards delivered.
4. Act as a role model and display leadership attributes consistent with Leading Values for the Trust.
5. To provide leadership in the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Providing expertise in midwifery led care to low risk and high-risk women, ensuring ease of transfer between antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
6. Support and shape the developments of the Care Group working closely with the Head of Midwifery, Matrons and Clinical Director to be responsible for providing short/long term goals and being able to convert concepts into plans, implementation and communicate these effectively to the wider Ensure compliance with all national key deliverables.
7. Contribute to the annual business plan and strategic objectives for the Care Group by identifying specific issues and providing leadership in the change process for
