Oxford, United Kingdom Diffblue Full time

Diffblue is changing the way software is developed. We build products that have the potential to improve the experience of every software developer in the world. By using Artificial Intelligence to write unit tests, we are helping teams do more and better testing, sooner in the DevOps pipeline. There are quite simply not enough developers to write all the code that needs to be written.

Diffblue spun out of the University of Oxford in 2016 and received the largest AI Series A funding in Europe in 2017. Having just closed our latest round of funding and coming off the back of triple digit growth, we are building out our go-to-market sales & marketing teams.

We promote an environment in which we support and learn from each other. We strongly believe that diversity is important for a modern business, and that when different opinions, backgrounds and life views meet, better results are obtained.

The Product team at Diffblue is looking for a Lead Technical Writer to develop the Diffblue documentation strategy working with users to design and build an appropriate data model and refining product documentation that’s accurate and effective. You will own the conception, development and execution of the documentation strategy. As a Lead Technical Writer, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, creative environment to produce world-class technical product documentation.

*
Responsibilities: *
- Developing and delivering the entire Diffblue documentation strategy.
- Interview users to develop understanding of personas and their individual needs.
- Independently research, plan, lead, and deliver large content initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineers, UX and product managers to continuously improve documentation.
- Work with the UX team to create and review in-product UI text and error messages
- Use the product, test each procedure and workflow, become an expert user, and provide feedback to the product development teams.
- Write accurate, well-organised, consistent, and highly effective content for new and updated features of our product.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align product documentation with other forms of customer-enablement content.
- Lead documentation process improvements.
- Monitor and address feedback received from the community through various channels such as the forum, surveys and user groups.
- Actively participate in agile development team meetings and represent the interests of the product documentation team and customers through user feedback and analytics.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrable experience in a strategic role where you have developed and delivered documentation strategy for a product based tech company.
- A team-player with experience working well remotely within geographically distributed teams.
- Experience documenting developer tools.
- A strong understanding of programming concepts, preferably with Java.
- Familiarity with one or more coding languages.
- Understanding of/empathy for developers, their workflows and the way they work.
- Experience working with developer-focused platforms, tools and services such as AWS, Docker, GitHub, MongoDB, Netlify, etc
- Experience working in a start-up environment.

**Optional but desirable skills**:

- Experience re-architecting documentation at scale
- Experience in the Java Development Community
- Proficiency using the command-line Git
- Tech Start-up experience
- Experience in developing developer tooling products, technologies or platforms
- Computer Science or Software Engineering Degree (or equivalent experience)

**Benefits**

Company benefits include:

- Competitive package, including share options
- Private health and dental plans (including 24/7 virtual GP service, additional cancer care and mental health cover)
- 8% non-contributory pension
- Life insurance & Income Protection schemes (including additional medical, wellbeing support)
- 25 days annual leave + Bank holidays
- Enhanced family-friendly benefits
- Flexible working
- Annual eye tests and £50 contributions towards glasses
- Cycle to work scheme

While we expect the future of work to continue to be a hybrid model working both remotely and in-office, we do have a great environment in our Oxford-based head office with beautiful open-plan space with lots of natural light.
