Quality Assurance and Appeals Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance and Appeals Officer to join our Team.
Do you have experience in Housing Benefits and Council Tax Support administration? Have high attention to detail and can provide assurance that the administration of Benefit and Council Tax support claims are accurate. We would love to hear from you
**About the role**
- To carry out quality assurance checks on an agreed percentage of benefit determinations within the service.
- To ensure claims are correct and the relevant information has been recorded and entered correctly.
- To ensure all procedures are carried out and in accordance with current legislation, regulations, and council policy.
- Feedback to officers on issues arising from quality checks and address any training requirements with service managers.
- Contribute to the preparation and testing of the subsidy claim and undertaking subsidy maximisation.
- Ensure the accuracy of all claims prior to preparing a submission to the Appeals Service.
- Prepare clear and concise submissions within the time given and attend appeal hearing as appropriate.
- To carry out subsidy assurance checks on a regular basis in high-risk areas of the subsidy claim.
**You will need**
- A minimum qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or A level, and/or three years relevant experience in Benefit administration.
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent to grade C/4 or higher.
- Good working knowledge of Welfare Benefits.
- Ability to research, interpret data and management Information to ensure accurate reporting and inform decision making.
- Ability to resolve complex issues by negotiation.
- Mentor and train colleagues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
