We put the right conditions in place to achieve digital, data and technology transformation at scale by working with departments, and other government functions like commercial, project delivery and security professionals.

**We are responsible for**:

- Digital, Data and Technology Strategy and Standards, like the Technology Code of Practice, the Service Standard and Open Standards
- Cross-government DDaT performance and assurance, including Spend Controls
- DDaT Capability Development, including the DDaT pay framework

Our priorities are:

- Set the cross-government strategy for digital and data
- Establish functional metrics and processes to ensure delivery of the strategy
- Assure against a set of co-created ‘red lines’ and the Technology Code of Practice
- Manage operations, governance, portfolio management and executive private office for CDDO

For the Assurance Service, we:

- Operate assurance processes across Government
- Product manage cross-government assurance tooling
- Manage strategic roadmap / portfolio of digital programmes
- Develop and maintain DDaT performance framework and Digital Dashboard
- Deliver the Quarterly Business Review process

**Job description**:
The Senior Digital, Data and Technology Advisor will lead the assurance of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) delivery and spend, for a number of central government organisations, working with those organisations’ internal assurance functions, His Majesty’s Treasury, Government Commercial Function (GCF) and the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) to maintain oversight on DDaT delivery and spending plans, build and maintain confidence that these plans will achieve desired outcomes, meeting users' needs, departmental and cross government strategies (including transforming for a digital future) and value for money.

You will advise and support major DDaT Projects on best practice (including the Government Service Standard, Technology Code of Practice and other relevant policies and guidance), and enforce mandatory policies.

You will make recommendations to senior leaders in Government and Cabinet Office Ministers on these projects, helping them exercise control over government delivery and spending plans.

Your work will help people succeed in tackling these issues.

You will work with immensely talented people from a range of backgrounds, and get a great view of how Government works both in the centre, and on the frontline, where our actions have an effect. There is therefore a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference to how important large scale citizen services are delivered and influence tangible savings (last year the team helped deliver hundreds of millions of pounds of savings across departments).

**Person specification**:
We are looking for someone who is a strong communicator, who is able to speak confidently and plainly about technology with senior non-technical audiences (such as Permanent Secretaries and Ministers). You will also be someone who enjoys working with people and can quickly build trusted relationships at all levels (including with CDIOs, CTOs, Programme and Project Leaders), understand and respond to their needs. You are well organised and thrive in a busy environment where priorities change, often at very short notice.
