**Job description**:

- The Responsible Technology Adoption Unit (RTA), formerly The Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI), leads the UK government's work to enable the trustworthy development and deployment of AI and emerging technologies. We are looking for two Senior Policy Advisors to support the delivery of our programmes**Person specification**:
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Building a team - Directly managing 1-2 policy advisors, as well as supporting a wider team of colleagues to learn, grow, and achieve more together.

Designing and leading high impact projects - Helping partners to identify and address their needs through mixed method projects that support innovation and drive the responsible use of data and AI.

Overseeing delivery from start to finish - Including leading on some of our prestigious prize challenges - and ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard, as well as supporting Team Leads (Grade 6/AUs) in identifying new project opportunities.

Engaging with partners - Forming close working relationships with our partners, and fostering valuable connections to industry, government, and civil society.

Championing the RTAU’s expertise - Communicating the findings of our project work to a wider audience, including through reports, briefings, and speaking engagements.

Capturing insights - Considering how findings from particular projects can be applied elsewhere to support other organisations to use data and AI responsibly.

Contributing to the RTAU’s culture - Adding to the life and soul of the RTAU, taking time out of day to day duties to ensure the RTAU is an inclusive and purposeful place to work.

**Skills and experience**

Essential requirements:
Interest in the risks and opportunities posed by data-driven technology such as artificial intelligence, and an ability to quickly and effectively engage with leaders in this field.

Previous professional experience working in at least one of the following areas: policy development or delivery, law or regulation, delivery of data-driven technology, or the data and AI ecosystem more broadly.

Experience of working in partnership with other teams or organisations to deliver complex projects successfully.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (e.g. presenting to senior audiences, and leading on the drafting of reports).

Capable of analysing highly complex issues to reach clear and balanced conclusions.
