The role of the clinical support worker is to carry out screening of children's hearing and vision in their reception school year.

Carrying out participating children's measurements of height and weight for the national child measurement programme annually.

To support the Nursing team when delivering vaccinations in schools and clinics. Maintaining the cold chain when handling vaccines. Assisting with administration and the flow of pupils through a session. Assisting with E consent.

Screening

Clinical support staff book sessions with schools to visit and carry out screening of children's vision and hearing in reception year. Following the session children's results are uploaded on to their clinical record and any children who require secondary care referral following the pathways will be referred by the support worker.

Clinical support workers support with team administration. Booking children in to clinics and offering support and advice to parents on the use of E- consent. Taking calls from parents and schools with enquiries.

Clinical support workers arrange sessions in schools to carry out the national child measurement programme. Booking dates in schools and ensuring guidance is adhered to during the session delivery. Post delivery ensuring the data is submitted to project assistant in line with the programme guidance to enable uploading to the national data set.

Clinical support workers collect vaccine maintaining the cold chain and take to schools for immunisation sessions.

Whilst immunisation sessions are taking place in schools the support workers monitor the cold chain and access vaccine from cool porters to distribute to staff.

Screening children's vision and hearing in reception school year. Refer children to audiology or ophthalmology if required following the screening pathway.

CWP has adopted the Living Wage. W here the standard Agenda for Change hourly rate is below Living Wage, pay will be supplemented to this level.
