Canterbury, United Kingdom CATS Global Schools Full time

Do you know how to make a good first impression? Our Student Welfare & Transfer Operatives are great at providing a warm-welcome to our students who arrive with us each summer, and continue to take care of the pastoral and well-being needs during their stay.

**What does it involve?**

From late June to mid-August, Stafford House Study Holidays welcome over 6000 young students (aged 8-17) from different parts of the world to one of our seven summer schools.

Our aim is to provide them with a fun and educational holiday experience, which includes English language classes and engaging activities and excursions. Our students stay in our school residences, supported by our team of Student Welfare & Transfer Officers, who are much like House Parents. They help with the pastoral and well-being needs of our students during their stay, but also welcome them at London airports and rail stations.

Our students usually arrive at the weekend. You'll need to be confident to travel to various, busy London airports and rail stations, ready to welcome groups and individual students upon their arrival. Although their travel arrangement will be pre-arranged, you'll meet and greet, assisting with any issues that may arise, before ensuring their safe passage onto their connecting travel to their chosen school.

**Locations**: Bournemouth, Cambridge, Central London, Uxbridge, and Oakham (famous for the Michael Owen Red Stars football school) to choose from.

**Contracts**: You can choose your contract of 4-6 weeks between late-June to mid-August. You must be available within at least 2 weeks in July, as this is our busy period. As you are involved in the wrap-around care for our students, you must be residential for this contract. Great news, as you don’t need to be local to our school locations to apply This is a full-time position, of 48 hours per week, over 6 days.

**What’s in it for you as a Student Welfare Officer?**
- Board + accommodation provided as you must be residential for this role
- 1st Aid Course as part of your training weekend, prior to the programme starting and ongoing support throughout your contract duration
- Experience of working in a fast-paced, fun and multicultural educational environment
- Opportunity to gain experience toward a career of working with young people in the fields of education, health or care professions
- Working with a highly experienced and supportive team
- Opportunities to gain teaching qualifications at the end of your contract.

**Pay**:Basic rate of £549.12 per week + holiday entitlement**What does it take to be a Study Holiday Student Welfare Officer?**
- **
Confidence**, with a good understanding how to work professionally with young people. You’ll be supporting young students who visit us from overseas to learn English. You’ll be guided by your Welfare and Accommodation Manager and/or the Centre Director, and acting as their responsible adult, and/or support their Group Leader.
- **Travel** to busy London airports and rail stations usually happen during weekends. _(your travel is of course paid for when attending 'meet & greets'). _The transfer and travel aspect builds just part of the role, predominantly caring for and supporting the welfare of our students. Please see the full Job Description.
- ** Safeguarding** is a big part of the job, and we take it very seriously. So, as you would expect, if successful we will facilitate an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safer recruitment policy
- ** Administration**. You will allocate the accommodation for and make plans to ensure that our overseas students’ needs are met, prior to arrival. You’ll also complete admin duties, such as logbooks and Health & Safety records.
- ** Great Organisation**. While here, you’ll manage the essential aspects of our students’ stay; ensuring they get to lessons on time, supervising mealtimes and working with their Group Leaders to support the smooth running of their stay.
- ** Being Supportive**. You’ll cover the duties of care for our students overnight, on a rota basis. Additionally, providing pastoral support to ensure their holistic well-being and welfare.
