We are currently looking to recruit an Associate Clinical Practice Educator - Band 5, to join the Neuro ICU Education Team.

You will need significant clinical practice experience in critical care and willingness to complete a Postgraduation certificate in Adult Critical Care or Advanced Neurosciences.

You will be working closely with the team of Clinical Practice Educators, the Practice Development and Educational Lead, the Band 7 management team and the Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education.

The poster holder will also be supported with funding for Training and Teaching Skills courses and development opportunities for future career progression in Clinical Education.

The Associate Clinical Practice Educator (ACPE) will help identify the training needs, contribute to planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities for students, new starters and existing members of non-medical staff (Band 1-5) within their directorate in the Division.

The post‑holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills commensurate with a clinical expert and effective practitioner; serve as a role-model; an agent of change and a facilitator of work-based learning.

Explicit within the role and the outcomes required of it, the ACPE will work collegiately to ensure standards are established, implemented and sustained, particularly those related to staff knowledge, skills development and patient safety.

ACPE will work 40% of their time clinically (included in the staffing numbers), 40% working with students and new starters (not included in the staffing numbers), and 20% in identifying training and education needs and planning, implementing and evaluating education activities in the clinical areas in which they are working.

In conjunction with other ACPEs, their PDEL, Managers, Matrons and the Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education in the Division, they will participate in and contribute to the annual review and development of the strategic education plans for non-medical staff.

You will be working closely with the team of Clinical Practice Educators, the Practice Development and Educational Lead, the Band 7 management team and the Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education.

The poster holder will also be supported with funding for Training and Teaching Skills courses and development opportunities for future career progression in Clinical Education.

In conjunction with other ACPE, CPE, PDEL, Managers, Matrons and the Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education Lead, promote an environment that encourages learning and sustains the personal and professional development of all non-medical staff.

Ensure utilisation of the Oxford Model for exemplary professional nursing and midwifery practice and the NHS Change Model in promoting practice development and education for all non-medical staff as the means by which quality improvement is systematic, goal‑focused, measured in its implementation and relevant to the area of clinical practice.

Help identify training and education needs, plan, implement and evaluate educational activities for students, new starters and existing junior members of the non-medical staff (Bands 1-5), Nursing Associates, Assistant Practitioners, Apprentices.

Participate in the on-going development and implementation of education initiatives in particular the orientation, preceptorship and mentorship programmes for students and new members of staff.

Provide bedside and classroom teaching, and support junior members of the non‑medical staff in facilitating work-based learning and development of knowledge, clinical skills and expertise.

Complete mandatory training as required by the Trust and act as a resource and role model for other staff with regard to their mandatory training needs.

Be committed to an ethos of lifelong learning for self and others.

In collaboration with an individual’s mentor, give staff constructive feedback focusing on their progress and development.
