The Forensic and Prison Services Directorate is part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in mental health and learning disability services. The Bracton Centre is a central part of the directorate, providing medium secure services to the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham. Forensic services offer mental health support to people who have been through the legal system. The Bracton Centre also provides a low secure challenging behaviour service based at Memorial Hospital.
In addition, the directorate provides mental health and primary healthcare services for a number of prisons throughout Kent, London and the South West.
**Referrals are accepted from**: Courts; Prisons - remanded or sentenced prisoners; probation officers; sector psychiatrists/teams; social services; solicitors and special hospitals.
- Undertaking audio/copy typing support to the team.
- Acting as the first point of contact for telephone calls from courts, probation service, solicitors, patients, carers and other personnel.
- Responsibility for reporting of any issues around facilities or maintenance problems to relevant bodies.
- Facilitating CPA process ensuring all documentation completed in a timely fashion and all relevant information inputted onto RiO.
- Taking and typing up notes from ward round as agreed with Consultant/CTL.
- Deal with incoming post and distribute.
- Taking bookings for meeting rooms within Forensic Directorate for Trustwide staff.
- Ordering of stationery and equipment as required, monitoring, receiving and storing goods and ensuring that relevant documentation is prepared and completed by budget holder.

We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London. - MOJ paperwork including ASR (annual statutory reports) and leave request for restricted patients, Section 12 reports as part of SLA with Bromley all of which may consist of distressing information.
- Acting as the first point of contact for telephone calls from Courts, probation service, Solicitors, patients, families of patients, tribunals, Ministry of Justice bearing in mind patient confidentiality, ensuring urgent matters are brought to the attention of the Consultant or MDT in a timely manner. Due to the nature of the client group, the postholder may need to deal with hostile and difficult telephone calls.
- Responsible for devising and implementing a process with the ward and MDT whereby required information for CQUINs is collated and input into RiO in a timely fashion.
- Receiving monthly DQ and CQUIN reports on behalf of Consultant and ensure that relevant information is input onto RiO to comply with standards, and where necessary chasing members of ward and MDT thereby ensuring the performance of the directorate remains high.
- Assist the Support Services Manager in facilitating the referral process by setting up referral meetings, taking and typing up of notes and updating relevant spreadsheets. Facilitating this process includes ensuring required information is in place, chasing referrer eg solicitors, courts, police and social services for missing information and logging onto and updating RiO before and after the meeting.
- Creating, updating and maintaining spreadsheets as required eg court diversion
- To act as local RiO champion being the first point of contact for queries around use of RiO. To take part in local induction and update new staff in local/directorate use of RiO
