I am recruiting on behalf of a school in Southampton which specialises in educating students aged 11-17 years with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. They have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head to join them on a permanent contract.
They are a small school with 20 pupils, each of them have a bespoke curriculum/timetable. All pupils have either 1:1 or 2:1 staffing support. The timetables are very varied from Maths to horse riding.

**Job Description
**- To be responsible and accountable for the day to day running of the school(s); including young people, staff, education, behaviour, educational placements, training and Health & Safety
- To report to the Head of School with the production of reports within verbal and/or written updates on the status and quality of the school's performance; including any risks, actions plans, quality assurance and relevant legislation to ensure all areasare compliant with regulations and company polices are adhered to at all times
- To ensure that a minimum Ofsted grading of Good is maintained at all times in all areas under your charge
- To be responsible and accountable for ensuring effective Quality Assurance of the school curriculum including; effective teaching, learning, evaluation and assessment strategies to meet the needs of all students, so that accurate judgements to inform schoolimprovement can be made
- To hold accountability for all risk assessments and support plans for students, through the use of appropriate systems and procedures to ensure the students are provided with a safe and nurturing environment and staff have the skills and support they needto do such tasks.
- To ensure proactively maintain safe and respectful relationships with both staff and students through effective support, guidance and care ensuring the maintenance of safe professional boundaries in line with best practice.
- To oversee and model trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and physical intervention to ensure students are supported appropriately during times of crisis
- To work closely with school managers under your charge to ensure all they are performing in their roles through collaborative working, modelling, using effective feedback and communication while assessing work performance and identifying areas of improvement,including the sharing of required regulatory development, all to ensure that students are provided with outstanding levels of individualised education
- To be able to recognise your own, and manage others reactions and feelings in response to evolving crisis situations using opportunities such as reflective supervision and leading team briefings, supervisions and bespoke training ensuring you manage theeffects of these reactions on yourself and staff within the team.
- To manage personal and continuous professional development through self-assessment, supervision, training, in order to maintain good knowledge of current best practice, and statutory regulations ensuring best levels of support are delivered at all times.

**Knowledge and Qualifications**
- To have a NPQ or equivalent
- To hold QTS or QTLS, or to have equivalent experience.
- To have proven experience in running an SEMH and/or ASC provision
