Our Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service would love to hear from you where ideas are shared, and visions are supported.

You will provide specialist advice and intervention with a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity. Our integrated community stroke and neuro team is AHP lead and will provide various pathways including supported self-management, advice with signposting, intensive rehabilitation (ESD), complex management and reviews. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team including social work, neuropsychology, and opportunities for advanced practice. You will have access to a wide range of specialists with many years of experience who can help to increase your opportunities for learning and development of skills.

This SLT post post is a part time role of 22.5 hours covering both West Dorset locality. Hours can be met flexibly. Our service is a 6-day service currently but will be 7 days in future. we promote hybrid working with mixed caseload of community, base and working from home;
North Dorset (base Yeatman Hospital) covering Shafestbury, Gillingham, Sherbourne and Blandford.

West Dorset (base Forston Clinic) covering Weymouth & Portland, Lyme Regis, Purbecks and Dorchester.

To provide a high quality person centred approach to speech and language therapy care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.

To provide specialist speech and language therapy care and interventions, assessments, treatments and managing patients on a caseload, as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.

To provide specialist speech and language therapy advice to others regarding the management and care of patients / service users.

To devise specialist speech and language therapy programmes of care for other professionals to deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately.

To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.

Provide supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students and trained practitioners.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
