**Student and Academic Services Directorate**:
Student and Academic Services makes a significant contribution to the University’s vision of being a University for Public Good and underpins the academic endeavor through the provision of high-quality support to our University colleagues; enabling them to achieve excellence in research, teaching and the student experience.
Collectively, and by working collaboratively with students, colleagues and external partners we facilitate learning, development and success of students and staff by:
- providing the services and support that students and staff need to deal with aspects of student life that can enhance learning and capability;
- promoting and facilitating students’ personal development and career planning;
- contributing to the assurance of academic standards and the quality of teaching and learning, and
- providing administrative infrastructure to support the student life cycle.
Student and Academic Services is organised into six departments/service areas:
- Directorate Administration team and Projects Office
- Library, Archives and Learning Services
- Online Partnerships
- Student Administration and Academic Affairs
- Student Careers and Systems
- Student Life and Wellbeing

**Role**:
Within the last two years, the University of York has launched a new strategy (with several supporting initiatives), commenced the delivery of a strategic change programme and continued to grow in terms of student and staff numbers. This has created an unprecedented level and variety of demands on the Academic Faculties and Professional Support Services (PSS) teams.
Student & Academic Services is also delivering its own suite of projects, and service and process improvements to ensure that we can continue to deliver high-quality, relevant, and flexible services that meet the needs of our University community.
The Student and Academic Services Project Support Officer will be based in the Directorate’s Project Office. This is an exciting and varied role that will support a diverse range of activities, working with teams across the Directorate to deliver continuous improvement and service development initiatives and to provide flexible resource to teams who need additional support with one-off activities, such as conferences and event organisation, servicing committees and meetings and other core administrative activities during the year. The role will also support the team’s Project Manager and Senior Business Analyst with project administration.
**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:
The Project Support Officer role is an excellent and exciting opportunity for an administrator who is looking to work in a varied role, in an environment of change, supporting a large and complex Directorate with varying needs. You will be required to work independently and as part of teams with different disciplines, so adaptability and flexibility are essential.
You will have exceptional organisational skills and be able to plan and prioritise a varied workload with fluctuating and time-critical demands, with a willingness and ability to support the vision and strategic priorities of the Student & Academic Services Directorate and wider University. You will have a proven ability to build professional working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders. With excellent IT skills, you will be accustomed to producing accurate work to strict deadlines with minimum supervision.
You will have experience of managing administrative processes and customer-facing work and a desire to work in an environment where continuous improvement and learning are at the heart of what we do. It is essential that the role holders are able to demonstrate good communication skills, demonstratable experience of working with data, and strong numerical skills, along with administration experience for events and meetings, including production of required materials and minute-taking.
