London, United Kingdom Secret Intelligence Service Full time

Department- Information Assurance and Specialists- Location(s)- London- Hours of Work- Full-time and part-time opportunities (flexible working hours available)- Salary- £37,281 - £43,957 depending on experience- Job description**Flexible Working**: opportunities include full time, part time, and compressed hours.
Due to the sensitive nature of the work, the majority of the role is office-based but flexibility such as a compressed four-day week, nine-day fortnights and accumulated time off in lieu is possible.

**About Us**

MI5 and MI6 are part of the UK’s Intelligence Services. We work together to safeguard Britain’s people, interests, and businesses from various threats at home, overseas, and online, including cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime. Working across our vital missions, you’ll deliver impact at the heart of national security, all within a supportive and inclusive environment that allows everyone to thrive.

**The Role**

Our organisations are driven by information. As a Knowledge and Information Specialist, you’ll maximise that information’s impact and actively contribute to our mission. Working with a range of unique and interesting information, you’ll use your specialist skills to drive business outcomes and inform key decision-making.

With a background in information management, you’ll help implement best practice and share your knowledge to support the development of our community. This is a customer-facing role where you’ll provide advice and guidance and help shape your team’s approach to meet a range of requirements. You’ll also engage with stakeholders across the business and ensure wider compliance and standards.

At both MI5 and MI6, you’ll represent our information department and its aims. In doing so, you’ll gain a thorough understanding of our objectives and legal obligations.

At MI5, you’ll join the team that manages our data and information. This team is responsible for records management, data management, information and knowledge management, policy, and data governance. As your career develops, you could take on subsequent posts in different areas of the organisation and there may also be line management opportunities, depending on the posting.

Whichever organisation you join, you’ll have a key role in enabling digital and technological change. That could mean overseeing systems, contributing to the development of working practices and policies, and ensuring developments in information management tools are implemented.

Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the role, opportunities to work from home are limited. We do offer flexible hours such as a compressed four-day week, nine-day fortnights, accumulated time off in lieu (TOIL) or part-time (three days per week), however the latter may impact your salary.

**About You**

You’ll have a qualification in data/information/records management or data governance, or a minimum of two years relevant experience in one of these areas. Given the nature of our organisations, experience of working with highly regulated data and ensuring compliance with legal obligations is valuable but not essential, so please don’t rule yourself out if you don’t have this.

In particular, you’ll have a talent for information management and be keen to build your career in this area. You might have previously worked with an electronic document and records management system and developed information policies, or have previous experience of delivering policy, technological change or working with a change team.

**Training and development**

Upon joining either MI5 or MI6, you’ll attend an induction where you’ll be introduced to the organisation. You’ll also receive a section-specific induction with members of the team to enable you to learn the specific requirements of your role.

You’ll be part of our thriving Information, Data Management and Compliance community, working closely with, and learning from, experienced specialists. Here, you’ll have opportunities to develop and broaden your skill set while developing your expertise in areas unique to our organisation.

We pride ourselves on our learning and development offerings. You’ll receive plenty of support as you undertake training relevant to your role as well as broadening your knowledge on the job. You’ll also have the opportunity to work towards or maintain professional accreditation.

**Rewards and benefits**

You’ll receive a starting salary of £37,281 to £43,957 depending on experience, plus other benefits including:

- 25 Days Annual Leave automatically rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and an additional 10.5 days public and privilege holidays
- Opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme
- Interest-free season ticket loan
- Excellent pension scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- Facilities such as a gym, restaurant and on-site coffee bars (at some locations)
- Paid parental and ad
