Programme Manager - Renewables

Standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

We are open to flexible working patterns including blended (home and officebased) working. Some travel to the Edinburgh office and occasional travel around Scotland is likely to be required. In the future, depending on the needs of the work we deliver atthe time, travel within other parts of the UK may be required

The role:
You’ll need to plan activity and deliver against targets, manage budgets and stakeholder relationships, report on activity, identify and implement improvements and be creative in finding solutions in changing circumstances.

You will be a confident manager of programmes and people who can collaborate effectively with distributed teams and contractors. You will need to have ideas to solve problems and foresight to identify opportunities for us to have even more impact. You willhave determination to keep pushing forward to ensure targets are met. You must have excellent communication skills to build positive and productive relationships and be comfortable interacting at various levels. You will need to be good at analysing data andother information and you must have excellent writing skills, underpinned by fluency with Microsoft Office products. This will allow you to create compelling management information and reports for senior management, programme funders and others working inthe sector.

Essential skills and experience:

- Excellent programme, project and budget management skills and knowledge.
- Ability to lead, motivate and manage people who are direct line reports, task team members and contractors.
- Ability to build relationships and influence internal colleagues and external stakeholders including managing and negotiating with contractors.
- Good knowledge of Scottish and UK micro, small and/or medium scale renewables and wider energy efficiency measures, policies, barriers and markets and ability to learn more.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
- Self-starter and ability to work on own initiative.
- Commitment to deliver results with the ability to prioritise, work to deadlines, handle change, solve problems and make tactical and strategic decisions.
- Ability to identify and realise opportunities.
- Commitment to support the work of colleagues where required.

Key experience
- Relevant programme and project management in government, corporate, third sector or similar environment.
- Constructing and managing budgets.
- Engaging with the public and organisations on decarbonisation or an equivalent topic.
- Managing contractors successfully.
- Line management and team management.
- Identifying improvements and implementing them.
- Developing new areas of work.
