Demonstrating visible accessible leadership and the Trust values, the post holder as part of the Band 7 team will lead and influence education, training and development of clinical and non-clinical workforce to provide progressive development opportunities in relation to competence and skills
attainment across the Neonatal Service. This will ensure that the workforce has the clinical and professional skills to deliver high quality of care.

The post holder will lead and work closely with all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the delivery of clinical education and attainment of
competences are fit for purpose and aligned to workforce plans.

To create an environment where staff feel motivated, supported, engaged, well led and are
able to speak up and raise concerns. Staff should be aware of their responsibilities as part of
Team NICU and be supported to deliver those responsibilities.
- The post holder will support effective governance by disseminating good practice and

promoting clinical audit and use of evidence based multi-professional standards.
- To lead and influence education, training and development of clinical and non-clinical

workforce to provide progressive development opportunities in relation to competence and
skills attainment across the Neonatal Service.
- Ensure a skilled clinical workforce exists equipped with the necessary professional and

clinical skills for the delivery of high quality patient care, aligned to service need and
workforce plans.
- To develop and implement the Education Strategy across the Neonatal Service.
- To provide assessments of individual learning and development needs in conjunction with

the National Skills Framework.
- To undertake an active teaching and assessing role in the education and training of clinical

and non-clinical staff/students to support the education strategy.
- To identify any ‘skills gaps’ and provide training sessions to meet the needs of individuals.
