**Information Rights Officer - (Inside IR35)**

**Contract Term: 6 months**

**Contracting Authority: The Insolvency Service**

**Location: Hybrid - up to 3 days a week in the Birmingham office / Remote Working**

**Reporting to the Information Rights (IR) Manager, the role of Information Rights Officer offers an exciting opportunity in an Agency that recognises the importance of managing, sharing and securing our valuable information assets.**

**By supporting the planning, and delivery of our Information Rights Strategy and engaging with business areas across the agency you help the Insolvency Service’s continual work towards compliance with our legal obligations under information rights laws.**

**As a Information Rights Officer your main responsibilities will be**
- Managing the teams inbox, dealing with queries, requests as appropriate, distribute across the team or escalate queries to Information Rights Manger where appropriate.
- Working with colleagues in the Information Rights Team, and across the agency to process requests for Subject Access and Freedom of Information requests of our customers, and stakeholders to a high standard of customer service. within statutory deadlines..
- Manage your own caseload of requests for information.
- Review draft responses and information proposed for disclosure in response to requests under the information legislation: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and where required edit or draft responses in full. Ensuring they are in plain English and complaint with the relevant legislation.
- Processing individuals’ other rights under GDPR, when exercised, such as the right ‘to be forgotten’ and the right to erasure.
- Delivering timely and high-quality support and assurance on information rights issues across the agency and to its employees about their obligations under GDPR.
- Collaborating on the design and implementation of data protection training for colleagues across the agency
- Support the Information Governance Team’s Work towards the promotion of positive ‘privacy by design’ culture at operational levels.
- Provide Administrative support to the Information Rights Manger and head of Information Governance when required on project or ad-hoc work and provide administrative support for the agencies regular Information Asset Owner Meetings.
- Understand the work and role of the wider Information Governance Team, to be able to contribute to the team’s wider work, and provide any necessary cover ad hoc duties when required.

**Essential Skills**
- Experience working with customers/stakeholders
- Ability to make effective, evidence based decisions
- Good written communications skills and experience of drafting correspondence
- Experience delivering training (formal or informal) to colleagues and third parties
- Strong self starter
- Secretariat skillset

**Desirable Skills**
- Some knowledge of data protection and/or the Freedom of information Act (desirable but not essential)
