**What is a Sibling Support Assistant Volunteer?**

At Derian House we have a dedicated Sibling Support Service that offers both pre & post bereavement support to siblings of our children at Derian House. As part of this fantastic service the team offer two groups:

- Danni's Club: one Saturday a month 1.30pm to 4pm (ages 8-13)
- Chill Out & Chat: one Friday a month 6.30pm to 9pm (ages 13-18)

We are looking for volunteers aged 18 & over to support either one or both groups, but as we rely on volunteers to maintain the staff ratio, we need a regular commitment.

The groups are fun and supportive for pre and post bereaved siblings but there may be times that as a volunteer you are party to conversations with our children about bereavement and loss.

**What's involved?**
- Getting the group involved with games
- To support with arts and craft projects - if you come out clean we will send you back in again
- Supporting outdoor play in our amazing grounds
- Showing off your cooking skills
- Sometime we may need your help to undertake off-site trips (which may be outside of normal group times)
- Gain an awareness of the services that Derian House offers to our Children, Young People and their families so you can answer any questions families or visitors may enquire about.

**This role will suit people who are**.........enthusiastic, approachable, fun & bubbly, a good communicator & very friendly. Experience of working with children & young people is beneficial but not essential. You must be willing to provide a regular commitment & participation in mandatory training is essential annually. You must ensure confidentiality, respect and dignity at all times. We really value kindness, honesty, integrity and reliability in our volunteers and staff and in return we will do our best to provide you with a rewarding volunteer experience.

**Time Commitment**:
Danni's Club: one Saturday a month 1.30pm to 4pm (ages 8-13)

Chill Out & Chat: one Friday a month 6.30pm to 9pm (ages 13-18)

**Training Requirements**:
Full site induction & mandatory annual training will be provided
