Colchester, United Kingdom East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

A developmental role at a Band 3 would be considered for the right applicant.

This role allows for home working in line with service needs.

Do you have excellent administration skills, a good eye for detail and the tenacity to ‘go that extra mile’ and be the hidden voice of patients who are navigating through the Trust on a suspected cancer pathway?

It is essential that all patients referred via GPs with a suspicion of cancer, have every stage of their pathway tracked on a daily basis to make sure that they receive a diagnosis within 28 days and where found to have cancer, their treatment commence within 62 days of being referred into the Trust.

If you think that you have the level of commitment and the skill set that this role requires then we would love to hear from you.

Working closely alongside the clinical teams, the MDT Coordinator helps to identify patients who are required for discussion at the weekly MDT meetings. The MDT Coordinator is responsible for collating the necessary information for each patient to be presented and discussed on the agenda. This sometimes involves linking into other Trusts (via Video Link), to join MDT meetings taking place at specialist centres.

Progress is reviewed by tracking the patient using Somerset Cancer Registry, through the various hospital diagnostic systems, updating all the clinical teams when the information is available and ensuring that it is all ready for the weekly MDT meetings, escalating any delays to the operational teams. The post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, working alongside consultants, cancer nurse specialties, as well as working with MDT colleagues based at other Trusts.

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are the largest NHS organisation in East Anglia, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.

If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills and knowledge, then we want to hear from you.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and will provide expertise in the proactive administrative management from referral to treatment or discharge. They must ensure the entire pathway is managed smoothly and in alignment with the national timed pathways.

You must have previous NHS experience and will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a busy, challenging but rewarding environment. You must have a positive approach to change and be highly motivated to work effectively and efficiently to support the delivery of the Cancer Waiting Times Standards.

**Please note**: this role does not involve direct contact with patients.

The role also involves the collection and input of audit data, in line with the national dataset requirements.

For full details of the responsibilities and duties of this role please see the attached job description.
