Larne Community Care Centre is a multipurpose facility that operates various projects for the community including childcare, crisis accommodation and Good Morning Larne befriending project.

We are recruiting an Assistant Community Support Worker who can provide support to people in the local area. This will be an entry level position and full training will be provided to enable you to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude required of a support worker.

As an Assistant Community Support Worker you will work with our teams to support people with any concerns, many of whom might feel they have no one else to turn.

You will be based at Larne Community Care Centre. You will work under the direction Senior Management team and our project co-ordinators. You will be responsible for assisting existing staff to deliver support to the community in line with Larne Community Care Centres aims and objectives.

Background

The Assistant Community Support Worker will work alongside the team to provide support to people in Larne. The role will support people to manage issues including isolation, personal health and mental wellbeing, accessing statutory services and managing household costs and bills.

Scope of Role

The role will provide support to people in Larne with a focus on understanding their problems and helping them to overcome these by linking into specialist support services. The role will build positive relationships with members of our community and support them to improve their lives. This role will not single handily try to solve all the problems of the residents but will work with various agencies to achieve a positive outcome.

We are looking for someone who can work well under pressure and be able to seek out resolutions to a person’s concerns without judgement. The successful applicant will need to have a flexible approach to hours of work.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide support to families or individuals in need of help within the community.
- To process referrals for our services
- To provide befriending calls to our Good Morning Larne clients.
- To help plan events
- Build a detailed understanding of local support services across Mid & East Antrim and identify referral pathways to access these services.
- To develop personal relationships with front line staff at other support organisations ensuring services complement one another.
- To collect data safely following the systems LCCC has in place and produce reports to assess the impact of the support provided and to ensure records are properly maintained and updated.
- To ensure any information learnt as part of the job is kept completely confidential. ( A non-disclosure agreement will be required as part of any job offer)
- To represent LCCC at community events and be an integral part of the team
- To attend training and meetings where required to enable you to provide support in all areas of the role.
- To ensure that all LCCC policies and procedures are adhered to
- Any other duties deemed reasonable

Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths and English
- IT experience
- Highly organised and able to prioritise own work plan
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to listen, understand and respond to people
- Commitment to Equality and Diversity
- Committed to personal development
- Ability to obtain a Satisfactory Access NI check required

**Salary**: £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
