We are looking for an apprentice to join us as an Administrator in the Leicester Diabetes Centre Team at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

The Diabetes Research Department is a busy unit, undertaking a wide range of commercial and non-commercial research projects which aim to improve diabetes care through the promotion and development of research excellence.

The Post holder will be expected to provide support to the Senior Management Team with all administrative tasks related to that role.

This is a full time post, based at Leicester General Hospital. You will be given time for your learning to achieve a level 3 qualification in Business Administration and will be supported by a very experienced Apprenticeship Development team. To qualify for the apprenticeship role the minimum criteria is:
- You must have GCSE in English and Maths
- Have not completed an apprenticeship at the same level and sector in the past.

Duties will include assisting and supporting the personal assistants to the senior management team, maintaining electronic diaries, minute taking, updating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases, organising and preparing for events, liaising with external organisations and institutions, maintaining audit logs, setting up meetings with external stakeholders, filing, photocopying, answering telephone queries, printing communications, maintaining publication records accurately on internal and external websites in addition to general administrative duties.

The post holder will liaise with all grades of staff in a multi-disciplinary department; therefore, the ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and effectively with a broad range of people, especially on the telephone, is essential.

**The apprentice’s key responsibilities are**:

- To learn about health research and how their role fits into the work of the team
- To gain confidence in administrative work in the NHS
- To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist the apprentice to complete their qualification and secure employment and progress in their career in the future.
- To undertake a development programme leading to a National Standard as part of an apprenticeship.
- To actively participate in their own development plan which will be agreed with the line manager and the training provider.
- Complete the Apprenticeships Standard within the agreed timescales
