A vacancy has arisen in the Blood Sciences department of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board for an Associate Practitioner to join our Biochemistry team.
New biochemistry automation was commissioned in July 2021 in the purpose built, modern Blood Sciences laboratory at the Grange University Hospital, with the aim to deliver high quality Biochemistry services.
**Here are the main duties**:
Liaise with public, patients and service users in the receipt of pathology samples.
Receive telephone enquiries and give out information or results in certain categories as and when instructed by a Biomedical Scientist and where necessary pass on enquiries to the relevant department.
To be able to recognise test results that need to be communicated to senior staff, such as unexpectedly abnormal results that may need urgent clinical action.
To assist in the analysis patient samples, routine analyser maintenance procedures, instrument calibration and quality control.
To work on rotation within sections of the department and its satellite laboratories and participate in all aspects of the 24/7 shift rota.
