The Project Support Officer will be responsible to the EMAP Project Manager and will be part of the team supporting the delivery of key objectives aligned to the EMAP Portfolio. The post holder will support the EMAP Managing Director, EMAP Programme /Project Managers, EMAP Clinical Leads with the development and management of project plans and will be responsible for tracking progress and highlighting dependencies across project plans. The post holder will support the EMAP Team by coordinating reports and extracting information from the Integrated Management System, on the overall position of the Programme, along with supporting risks and issues logs. To support the ongoing development of the EMAP Team, facilitating and working in collaboration with team members to ensure the coordination of communication, reporting and governance are consistent and in line with trust standards.

The role is for a fixed term that ends on 31 March 2026. It is for 30 hours per week. Flexible working will be considered, as will job shares.

If you are already working for one of the eight acute hospitals that is a member of EMAP, a secondment will be considered. The majority of the role is office based. There may be an occasional requirement to travel across the east midlands to support a workshop / event. This will happen 2-3 times a year.

As a project support officer, you will be able to engage and work across a range of stakeholders in order to support delivery of a balanced set of improvement benefits. The successful applicant will have knowledge of improvement methodologies, together with robust coordination skills. You will support with the day-to-day administration and coordination of project activity, along with supporting the identification and effective management of associated dependencies, risks and issues aligned to the overarching improvement programmes.

You will have the ability to synthesise and present information, including effective project communication planning to influence improvement. You will be able to build strong and meaningful local relationships that support project delivery, contributing to sustained change and outcomes.

You will be able to coordinate and manage a range of improvement team information, in line with the Trust PMO project methodology and will actively promote collaborative working, whilst supporting the coordination of stakeholder contributions to the projects, ensuring that patient and staff voices are represented within our improvement journey and overall approach.

The East Midlands Acute Provider (EMAP) Network is a group of the eight acute (hospital) providers across the East Midlands who have come together to maximise the opportunity afforded through collaboration. We have been working together as a collaborative since 2021 and while each NHS Trust has its own unique challenges, we also share a common goal which is to make things better for our population. We work together when it is beneficial to do so at scale.

Since 2021, EMAP has matured and continues to develop. It is now governed through a joint memorandum of understanding, led by the Chief Executives of the acute hospitals. EMAP’s remit considers both specialised and district general hospital services with a focus on short term delivery whilst aligning for long term strategic benefits.
