**About us**:
The Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders.

The Department is in a unique position of pursuing research in basic neuroscience that is of direct translational benefit to neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, stroke, motor neurone disease, peripheral nerve disorders and spinal cord injury. Our Research Groups use a powerful combination of modern non-invasive research technology, theoretical and computational approaches and a variety of cellular, animal, and human models to explore how the brain controls normal movement, and how disease leads to disordered control of movement.

**About the role**:
We are now seeking a Research Fellow to work on a Wellcome-funded project that will involve detailed interactions with computational neuroscience and machine learning communities at UCL (including the Gatsby Computational Unit) and Oxford University so skills in these domains would be extremely beneficial. Your primary responsibility will be to analyse and help publish results of electrophysiology datasets investigating the role of the prefrontal cortex in learning and decision-making. If desired, you can lead an electrophysiological research project exploring the role of the prefrontal cortex and medial temporal lobe in learning, planning and decision-making.

The role is available immediately and funded by Wellcome for one year in the first instance.

The Lab will be moving from UCL to Oxford University during 2023-2024. It is expected that you will work at UCL until the lab formally moves to Oxford, at which time you will be expected to move to Oxford with the Lab. Please note that a relocation package will not be available.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 60% on site.

**About you**:
As well as a PhD in neuroscience you will have extensive experience in data analysis of electrophysiological data, including analysis of both single-neuron and local field potential (LFP) data and behavioural analysis of learning and decision-making, including use of reinforcement learning approaches. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are also essential for this role.

**What we offer**:
Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £34,503 - £36,348 per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
