**About us**:
The Max Planck UCL Centre for Computational Psychiatry and Ageing Research is dedicated to studying the causes of psychiatric disorders as well as the causes of individual differences in cognitive development. The overarching goal of the MPC is to understand the cognitive and neural underpinnings of neuropsychiatric disorders.

**About the role**:
We are looking for a Research Fellow to undertake high quality research in the field of decision making under the supervision of Professor Ray Dolan. The focus is on examining neural replay as a potential biomarker for those at risk of Alzheimer’s Disease and will involve close collaboration with PIs in the UCL Dementia Research Institute (Busche and Fox) and in MRC Brain Dynamics Unit Oxford (Dupret).

This is a great opportunity for innovative input, including developing an independent line of research. In line with this, you will be expected to exploit computational approaches to brain function (for example, through use of magnetoencephalography) and behaviour.

The post is available from 01 July 2023 and is funded via a UKRI Grand Challenge Award to 31 May 2026 in the first instance.

**About you**:
You will have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD in computational neuroscience, psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related area. Experience of conducting research in neuroscience with a good publication record of high-quality research results and computational modelling of behaviour (reinforcement learning and similar) and programming (primarily Matlab, though skills in R and Java are desirable) is also required for this role.

**What we offer**:
The role is offered with salary of £38,308 per annum including London Allowance.

Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £34,502 - £36,348 per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
