Goodnestone Park is a traditional family-owned rural Estate, 20 minutes from Canterbury. The gardens have recently become an Affiliated RHS Garden and are part way through a programme of improvements with the aim of further developing horticultural quality / diversity. Encouraging biodiversity and sustainable garden practices are also important considerations at Goodnestone. A skilled gardener is required to join the existing team assisting with management of the 15 acres of formal gardens.

Duties involve grounds maintenance including mowing and hedge cutting, and plant care including weeding, watering, pruning and propagation. Further duties will periodically require some tree planting work and general maintenance. This varied and interesting role offers the opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work in attractive surroundings, in a small supportive team and with regular liaison with the estate owning family and wider staff group.

The successful applicant will have the following
- Have at least two years horticultural experience, and ideally a horticultural qualification PA1 and PA6 would be an advantage Be able to safely and effectively operate a range of routine garden machinery including ride on mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers, and leaf blowers Be flexible and adaptable to the range of duties required and be able to work independently and with initiative. Be able to integrate into an existing busy team, reporting to the Head Gardener Have a full clean driving licence and own transport Good interpersonal skills and able to talk to visitors about the gardens

**Package**

Full time role, Monday to Friday

Hours 8.00am to 4.30pm - but flexibility to finish earlier depending on time taken for lunch and tea breaks.

Salary £22,000 - £24,000 (Dependent on Experience)
