The Emergency Departments at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner to join our team at St Richard's Hospital, in Chichester.

We have seen demand grow in Unscheduled and Emergency care and are therefore looking to expand our multi
- disciplinary team with keen, motivated and expert individuals with a breadth of knowledge in the management of minor injuries and illness.

Working as an an autonomous practitioner within our Urgent Treatment Centre, you will work alongside other practitioners to provide clinical expertise in treating and diagnosing adult and paediatric patients presenting with minor injuries and illness, promoting positive patient experience and quality care.
1. Manage own caseload as ECP.
2. Undertake specific delegated management responsibilities. Management of trainee ECP and junior nursing colleagues.
3. Be a credible clinical expert in the management of minor illness and injuries and undertake teaching/development as required for all nursing staff to enhance knowledge and promote quality care.
4. Assisting with service development within the UTC, in conjunction with the Emergency Department Matron.

1. Communications and Relationship skills (Factor 1)
- Be able to develop, motivate and lead a team by using objectives in line with departmental, sub specialty and corporate goals
- Teach and facilitate learning for all associated students and junior staff
- To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he/she works
- Provide professional leadership within the department ensuring that all staff use evidence based practise and adhere to the NMC code of professional conduct
- Be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and innovation
- Demonstrate a keen interest in service development and strategic vision

2. Analytical and Judgemental skills - (Factor 3)
- Analyse and interpret history, presenting symptoms, physical findings and diagnostic information to develop differential diagnoses
- Make independent treatment decisions based on the interpretation of results
- Perform specific procedures (e.g. suturing, foreign body removal, manipulation and relocation of fractures/dislocations) within scope of own practice, demonstrating high level of knowledge and skills
- Prescribe within the scope of practice as a Registered Non-Medical Prescriber
- Advise on the promotion of health and prevention of illness
