**The Role**
- An integral member of a small, influential team, whose key customers are at Board level internally and sell-side analysts, buy-side investors and corporate advisors externally. This role is required to support the Director of Investor Relations in producing and implementing an effective IR programme to maintain a productive dialogue with investors across the market
- Primary activities include maintaining relationships with sell-side and buy-side research analysts, understanding the wider investment community, monitoring competitor and market newsflow, assisting with**1** the development of content and format of information flows (regulatory and adhoc) and providing high quality adhoc financial analysis as required to support the Director of Investor Relations**2**:

- The role relies heavily on building and maintaining both internal and external relationships at a senior level, whilst at its core, this role is analytical and financially based
- Requires a good**3** **understanding of all commercial aspects of Sainsbury’s, including understanding commercial position and strategy, key profit and loss, balance sheet and other financial drivers, ratios and metrics
- Investor Relations manager will assume line management responsibility for the IR analyst and IR assistant

**What you need to do**
- Own the planning and management of all IR events, including overseeing the preparation of relevant communication materials
- Assist the Director of Investor Relations in the development of messaging for regular and ad-hoc market updates including Prelims/Interims presentations and trading statement**1**:

- Attend meetings and events with investors and analysts (buy-side / sell-side) with the Director of Investor Relations**2**:

- Manage the Investor Relations targeting programme with the aim of maximising the efficiency of both management (CEO/CFO) and Investor Relations’ time
- Assist the Director of Investor Relations to monitor, review and analyse broker research on Sainsbury’s and its main peers, to keep the business informed of market sentiment and potential issues and themes to consider for communication**3**:

- Responsible for maintaining the consensus of recommendations and estimates for the 20+ sell-side analysts that cover Sainsbury’s ensuring it is up to date at all times and reported on the website accurately
- Manage and coach the Investor Relations Analyst and Assistant
- Research**4** answers to investor queries (buy-side and sell-side), escalating where appropriate, to ensure their accurate and timely resolution
- Establish and maintain a detailed knowledge of ongoing business issues in order to contribute proactively to investor relations activities
- Develop strong internal relationships to be able to source information from across the business as required for regulatory and ad-hoc work
- Produce**5** financial analysis to support external communications to drive insight and to answer internal and external queries
- Develop an**6** understanding of the macro influences on the food retail sector, monitor market and competitor activity and newsflow, and report back to appropriate levels within the business
- Oversee the production of ad-hoc communications and presentations as required by plc Board and Operating Boards, including the monthly plc Board report
- Take responsibility for reviewing external presentations produced by the business for accuracy and to ensure consistent messaging and communications
- Act as the key point of contact and support for the Financial Reporting Communication and Press Office teams
- Undertake financial management including budgeting, forecasting and reporting of the IR central budget of c.£750k per annum

- Strong, proven organisational and written skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Relevant IT skills - Excel and power point essential

**What decisions I can make including budget**
- Day to day management of annual Investor Relations budget of c.£750k with approval from Director of Investor Relations
- Resourcing decisions up to C4/ C5
