Polaris Children’s Services has developed an expertise in working with vulnerable children and their families across the UK. We were established as a company in our own right in 2009.

Our multi-disciplinary social workers, support workers, therapists and teachers use both therapeutic and evidence based approaches in their work.

Our services for children, young people and families are designed to deliver positive outcomes using evidence based models and the latest research.

**What we are looking for**

Polaris Children's Services are looking for a Therapist who can provide therapeutic interventions to our Children Looked After.

As part of our commitment to the local authority, we ensure we meet the child/young person/carer/professionals where is best for them. This means that it is necessary for you to hold a UK driving license and be prepared to travel both within the borough of Knowsley and also within a 40 mile radius of its borders - mileage is payable in line with our expenses policy.

You will be expected to complete administrative duties at home and potentially from the office in Nutgrove Villa, Huyton

**Role responsibilities**:

- Work within internal and nationally recognised clinical governance frameworks to ensure that all families receive a safe, high quality, consistent service
- Work within an integrated multi-disciplinary team, including participating in staff, CLA, CP and CIN Meetings and disruption meetings to plan and facilitate a comprehensive support package that will meet the family and young person's needs holistically and produce reports within the specified timescales
- Provide therapeutic support to enable families and young people to achieve positive, sustainable behaviour change

**Essential Criteria**:

- To hold a recognised relevant therapy qualification or certificate in relevant therapeutic training with at least 2 years of experience.
- Be registered and ideally, accredited with a recognised accrediting therapy body
- Effective collaboration with professionals in health, education and Social Services
- Experience delivering workshops and group sessions
- Confident in working with multi-agency groups
- Experience in working with Children and young people who have experienced Trauma
- Sound working knowledge of attachment theory
- A preliminary knowledge of child protection procedures
- Understanding or willingness to learn therapeutic techniques (e.g. SFBT, CBT) in order to support Foster Carer’s and professional’s around the child/young person.
