**Grade 2**

Bath Cats and Dogs Home is committed to the welfare of companion animals; to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home pets who are unwanted and far too often neglected or mistreated or vulnerable and to promote responsible pet ownership through education.

All staff are committed to deliver first class customer care to all visitors and supporters (throughout daily activities) in order for the Home to successfully continue to re-home animals and to have the long term support of the communities we operate within.
- **Purpose of the job**

To support the Animal Services Manager in managing the intake and occasionally the return of animals arriving at the Home by liaising with other staff, volunteers and members of the public.
- **Principle tasks**:

- Act as the point of contact for local dog wardens, RSPCA inspectors, local vets and members of the public to bring in any stray or vulnerable animals.
- Maintain meticulous records of all incoming and some outgoing animals. This will include use of social media and websites to proactively seek to reunite strays.
- Manage admissions of stray animals in alignment with current legislation and work closely with local authorities, to ensure all contractual requirements are met.
- Manage conversations with supporters with an understanding and compassionate mindset and be prepared to handle sensitive conversations if owners are no longer able to care for their pets.
- Deliver a high standard of professionalism and customer service and demonstrate empathy in challenging situations.
- Manage post-adoption support for our adopters which involves liaising with Behaviour Assessors and/or the Veterinary Team to provide expertise and knowledge in differing scenarios.
- Administer stray fines, creating invoices and logging transactions.
- Support the Animal Services Manager where necessary with producing reports or creating invoices for RSPCA or local dog warden councils.
- Support the Rehoming Team with administrative tasks.
- Assist with administrative duties as requested by the Animal Team Managers such as maintaining the microchip information for our animals.
- Maintain information database records and adhere to the GDPR protocols of the Home including the archiving of animal records as per RSPCA licensing guides.
- Comply with Home policies and procedures and protocols.
- To undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.
- While at work all staff are required to:

- Take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts and omissions.
- Co-operate with Homes policies and procedures for health and safety
- **Knowledge, skill and experience**:

- Education qualifications:

- GCSE passes Maths and English minimum level C
- Professional/Technical Qualifications/Skills:

- Animal Care NVQ or equivalent.
- First Aid at work/EFAW desirable (willingness to undertake)
- Fire Marshall desirable (willingness to undertake)
- Competence/ Experience:

- Proven experience of working with and understanding the welfare needs of animals in an animal care or administrative role
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proven customer care experience particularly in challenging situations

**SKILLS**
- Proficient in Microsoft packages particularly Excel & Word - Essential
- Database experience
- Bespoke Software experience - ‘Anilog’ Desirable
- Able to demonstrate empathy and compassion to owners handing over animals.
