**Student Success Manager (BAME Awarding Gap Project)**

**Start: ASAP (5 month contract)**

**Location: WC1H9BT (Hybrid working - Thursday is the only office day)**

**Salary: £24.91 - £31.83 p/Hour**

**Main purpose of the role**:
The Student Success Office takes an institution-wide approach to delivering initiatives and resources for staff and students which lead to culture change. We have a strong focus on evaluation and research and take an evidence-led approach to on-course successfor student groups where there are unexplained gaps.

You will be responsible for carrying out aspects of the student success strategies and for advancing aspects of the universities Access and Participation Plan to close awarding attainment gaps, primarily the BAME Awarding Gap Project.

You will also look to meet internal and external targets and milestones, allocate and manage resources and work with the Data and Impact team to measure impact, implement best practice and develop activity accordingly.

**Main duties & responsibilities**:

- To line manage the Student Success Officers
- Develop and implement aspects of the student success strategies and Access and Participation Plan with a particular focus on closing awarding and attainment gaps amongst students from ethnic minority backgrounds
- Manage and co-lead the BAME Awarding Gap Project, ensuring the effective delivery of activity, within overall resource constraints and delivery timetables
- Create and maintain efficient administration processes
- In conjunction with the Data and Impact Team, develop and implement systems to monitor the impact of services
- Deputise for the Head of Student Success at internal and external
- Responsibility for day-to-day management of the team budget, ensuring good budgetary awareness across the office and implementing frameworks for accurate forecasting
- Ensure effective communication with line manager regarding work in progress

**Desired person specification**:

- Qualifications commensurate with education to honours degree level or equivalent, including proficiency in English and Mathematics
- A broad knowledge of the HE Sector and in-depth knowledge of issues and interventions affecting attainment and retention at HE level
- Experience of developing and implementing new student attainment and/or retention initiatives
- Experience of writing and presenting for a variety of audiences
- Experience of managing budgets
- Administrative experience gained in a people-focused environment
- Project management skills
- Ability to analyse, synthesise and interpret data from multiple sources
- Strong information technology skills, with the ability to use Microsoft Office software
