**Main Purpose**

Responsible for providing an efficient, effective service to victims of stalking within the context of domestic abuse to include working directly with victims, risk assessing new cases working with the police and other multiagency team members, ensuring that the victim’s voice is heard and that victims of stalking receive an appropriate response.

**Responsibilities**:
**Corporate**

1. To maintain and demonstrate a commitment to the Organisation’s vision and values and strategic aims and objectives.

2. To maintain high standards of professionalism and keep abreast of current legislation, standards, best practice and maintain a focus of continuous improvement.

3. To maintain knowledge of the Organisation’s operating environment.

**Main Responsibilities**

1. Identify and assess the risks and needs of stalking victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.

2. Focus on and prioritise high risk cases and provide a pro-active intervention service through individual safety planning and personal support.

3. Work with high-risk victims of stalking to help them access services to keep them, their children and ‘secondary’ victims safe.

4. Advocate for victims with agencies who can help to address the stalking by:
i. Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to and how your role fits into them.

ii. Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.

iii. Offer guidance to key agency stakeholders to ensure the safety of victims is paramount and safety measures are implemented.

5. Manage a caseload ensuring each client receives the appropriate service individual to their needs

6. Support the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of stalking present in their situation, in order to help them regain control of their lives.

7. Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting where possible, supporting effective risk management strategies, while maintaining an independent role on behalf of your client, keeping their safety as central to any response.

8. Contribute to monitoring information for the service.

9. Working within Safer Places Case Management system OASIS, ensure your client records are complete, up to date and contemporaneous and cases are regularly reviewed so that caseloads can be managed efficiently and effectively.

10. Act in a manner which preserves the confidentiality of all stakeholders.

**General**

1. Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.

2. Remain up-to-date and compliant with all organisational procedures policies and professional codes of conduct and uphold standards of best practice.

3. The role holder will be able to work within the Safeguarding arena following organisation policies and procedures, be able to Recognise; Respond to; Report and Record Safeguarding issues and to understand Safeguarding Referral Pathways and where appropriate make and support staff to make high quality Safeguarding Referrals

4. Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the service works in, providing a service that recognises the diverse needs of victims.

5. Work flexibly in line with line manager’s shift patterns.

**Essential criteria required**:
**Experience**:

- Working with vulnerable groups
- Recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns
- Managing a high-risk caseload
- Working within a multi-agency and legislative framework.

**Knowledge**:

- Have a good understanding of stalking including the impact of domestic abuse, sexual violence and gender based violence on victim/survivors and their children.
- Have theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of stalking.
- Have knowledge of Adult and Child Safeguarding principles, the relevant legislative framework and local and national guidance.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of stalking, both primary and secondary victims.

**Skills**:

- Have good computer literacy skills and have some experience of working with databases.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
- Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

**Qualifications**:

- Hold a Paladin accredited ISAC
