Assistant Practitioner in Upper Gi Physiology

London, United Kingdom Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Join our Upper GI Physiology Service as an Assistant Practitioner in GI Physiology. In this role, you'll be an integral part of our team, supporting physiologists and administrative staff in providing patient care.

Your responsibilities include aiding in various gastrointestinal physiology assessments. You'll be involved in high-resolution manometry of the oesophagus to assess oesophageal motility disorders, impedance-pH reflux monitoring for gastroesophageal reflux disease, and wireless reflux monitoring. Additionally, you'll assist in Hydrogen-Methane breath testing for diagnosing conditions like lactose intolerance and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth.

This position is an excellent chance for those looking to pursue a career in GI Physiology. While it's not an accredited training post, you'll gain valuable knowledge and experience in GI physiology tests under senior physiologist supervision. We provide support and training, but please note that the department's operational needs take precedence, and duties won't be modified for external training. This role is a great opportunity for aspiring professionals in this dynamic healthcare field.

**Rota-Based Learning**: Participate in a rota system with other assistant practitioners to learn and maintain knowledge in all types of physiology tests provided by our department.

**Comprehensive Training**: Receive full support as a new staff member to ensure competency in tasks before working independently.

**Administrative Skills**: Enhance your skills by undertaking administrative tasks related to the clinics, developing into a well-rounded professional capable of running the service.

**Adherence to Trust Values**: Embody and reflect our Trust's values and ethics—putting patients first, taking pride in work, respecting others, striving for excellence and acting with integrity.

**A Reputable Department**: Join one of the UK's most reputable upper GI physiology units, known for pioneering research and adopting the latest GI physiology technologies.

**Commitment to Excellence**: Be part of a team that receives referrals from tertiary hospitals, maintaining our reputation for quality through comprehensive clinical and scientific training.
