**Overview**

The Community Team have a very exciting new opportunity to join their team as Community People Leader

The Community People Leader will act as a team and people leader for the student and campus engagement posts within the Community Team, supporting staff to achieve, grow and improve.

This position will also be responsible for community building through cross campus engagement and an inclusive programme at campus sites including student engagement in the sustainability agenda, Hallslife community events and wellbeing activity.

This position will pick up project work as agreed with the Community Manager.

To support the elected full time presidents and part time officers in achieving their goals whilst in post, assisting the Community Manager.

**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**

Lead student and campus engagement posts within the Community Team
- Work closely with the Community Manager to identify strategic projects, objectives and feedback and embed into year planning for the roles this post manages.
- Manage the day to day work of the Student Sustainability Engagement Coordinator. Working closely with the Community Manager to achieve our overall strategic goals for sustainability.
- Manage and direct the work of the Glenside Campus Community Coordinator and Bower Campus Community Coordinator ensuring that the Students’ Union offices provides membership satisfaction, signposts to support services and offers a range of campus suitable events.
- Manage the day to day work of another Community Coordinator post, providing community building activity in Welcome and welfare events.

**Projects**
- Coordinate the Community Team’s input into the Welcome Programme and Feel Good February, liaising with internal departments and University colleagues to ensure a diverse programme that is run efficiently and maximises resources.
- As identified with the Community Manager, support elected President and Officers to achieve specific manifesto points and projects.

**Staffing**
- Lead the day to day activities of specified Community Team staff, setting their yearly objectives in consultation with the Community Manager.
- Support staff to achieve their year-round goals and undertake their supervisions.
- Work closely with the Community Manager to ensure the departments vision and strategic goals are delivered

**Finance and Health and Safety**
- Manage the day to day budgets for specific Community Project areas.
- Provide written activity reports on events and engagement levels to the Community Manager and contribute to the annual impact report.
- To evaluate and endorse risk assessments related to specific projects within the Community Team and ensure they adhere to relevant Health and Safety policies of The Students’ Union.
- Build relationships with departments within the Students’ Union and across the University to broaden the programmes of work e.g. Campus Life, Centre for Music, Centre for Sport, Global Team.
- Undertake any duties as may reasonably be expected by the Community Manager or such other tasks as may be necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the Students’ Union.

**Skills/Experience**
- Qualified to Degree Level / or A-Levels with relevant experience
- Experience in organising events or coordinating activity
- Administrative experience
- Experience of managing own workload
- Line management and/or supervisory experience
- Fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Ability to motivate and inspire others
- Understanding and commitment to equal opportunities
- Understanding of the current issues in higher education of the needs and expectations of students in higher education
- Ability to lead project and groups delivering projects
- Adaptive and responsive to change
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

**Additional Information**

**Rate of Pay**: £28,301

**Increasing to 29,212 on 1st August 2023

**Grade: 5.1**

**Hours per Week**:37 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7
- Given the nature of the post, weekend and evening work will be required to achieve the desired outcomes at key times of the year

**Holiday**: 27 Days + Closure Days & Bank Holidays ‘pro rata’

**Duration of Role**:Permanent

**Location**:Based at Frenchay Campus
- Bristol

*The postholder will be required to work at, or from any of the Union’s establishments (Bower Ashton Campus, Glenside Campus etc)
