**About us**:
Marshfields is a short break home which provides emergency and time limited specialist care for young people of either gender aged between 5-18 years with complex needs, where either family, foster care, or other community-based placements are not possible or desirable at the time.

**The role**:
As a Senior Residential Children’s Practitioner, you will be responsible for creating a positive environment for each disabled child with particular regard for their disability, safety, health and education. Reporting into the Assistant Team Manager you will be a key part of the leadership team and take an active role in the support and mentoring of Residential Childcare Practitioners as well as ensuring to provide direct high-quality care for children and young people to ensure that their holistic needs are met. You will be responsible for the home in the absence of the Team Manager and the Assistant Team manager.

You would be expected to provide personal intimate care to holistically support children and young people with disabilities which can include tasks such as feeding, washing, toileting, dressing, hoisting, administering medication along with health care tasks that can be met through appropriate training and delegation of clinical procedure.

Alongside providing meaningful stimulating daily in house and community activities to help young people to grow and develop, you will work as part of a team to create stability and support children and young people to achieve good outcomes. You will also take part in statutory reviews and planning meetings as required.

**You will**:

- Have a Dip SW, CQSW, CSS or appropriate nursing qualifications
- Have significant care experience, including direct work with disabled children.
- Be keen to support young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours as part of our new Children with Disabilities (CWD) emergency provision.
- Be required to have good levels of literacy and numeracy.
- Be able to make sound judgements under pressure and respond effectively in a crisis.
- Need to be committed to safeguarding and making a difference in the lives of young people.
- Need to be reliable, have good personal relationship and communication skills as well as high professional standards.
- Have a driving licence and access to a car.
- Be flexible to work shifts including weekends, evenings and sleep-ins
