**About Us**

**The Client**

Our client has a visual impairment and therefore is seeking an admin assistant to help in her daily work tasks. The job is based in an office in Lancaster but it involves attending meetings and events away from office base. This means you will be taking the client in your car. Expenses will be reimbursed.

**Summary of Tasks**

1. To accompany the Lead Officer to meetings and other places of work.

2. To act as a sighted guide in unfamiliar indoor, outdoor or cluttered environments as required.

3. During the Lead Officer’s contact with colleagues and other people, to use observational skills in order to relay relevant visual information, including interpretation of non-verbal communication, information about the environment and potential hazards

4. To appropriately communicate any concerns to the Lead Officer regarding any possible safeguarding issues.

5. To assist the Lead Officer with the completion of forms and other documents as appropriate.

6. To read written material as necessary including handwritten material and case notes for/to the Lead Officer.

7. To establish positive professional working relationships and boundaries with the Lead Officer’s colleagues and service users.

9. To actively participate in supervision and appraisal.

10. Adherence to local policies and procedures

11.To undertake relevant training in order to improve your own performance, knowledge and skills.

**2. SKILLS**:
The ability to communicate effectively including good written communication skills.

The ability to establish good working relationships with professionals, service users and with people from a range of social, cultural and ethnical backgrounds.

The ability to work in a supportive capacity without talking over the role of the Lead Officer.

Good, accurate administration skills

Good computer skills including use of Microsoft packages and willingness to learn new skills.

You must be a driver and have access to a car

**3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE**:
No direct line management responsibilities but may be required to provide advice and guidance to new starters or temporary staff assigned to the team.

**4. RESPONSIBILITY FOR RESOURCES**:
Basic responsibility for equipment. To ensure vehicle is insured for business purposes.

**5. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
No direct supervisory responsibilities

**6. INITIATIVE**:
To be able to work on own initiative

**7. MENTAL EFFORT**:
Accurate processing of paperwork and IT related to the role of the worker.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 25 per week

**Salary**: £11.00-£11.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
