Are you a qualified and experienced Pharmacist who has worked within Hospital Settings? Do you have an all-round knowledge of hospital pharmaceutical procedures?
NHS Professionals have exciting opportunities for a Pharmacist Specialist with experience within ophthalmology to support our client trusts. You will maintain key relationships with co-workers and other health care professionals across the Trust to ensure aneffective service.

The John Radcliffe Hospital (JR) is Oxfordshire's main accident and emergency site. The JR provides acute medical and surgical services including trauma, intensive care and cardiothoracic services. It is situated in Headington, about three miles east ofOxford city centre. It is the largest of the Trust's hospitals, covering around 66 acres.

The John Radcliffe site also houses many departments of Oxford University Medical School, is home to the George Pickering Education Centre and base for most medical students who are trained throughout the Trust.

**RESPONSIBLE FOR**:
Ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures and medicines legislation.

Communication with other pharmacists to ensure efficient transfer of care and to ensure resident and weekend pharmacists have all necessary information. Discharge planning, including accreditation to list discharge prescriptions.

Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings or out-patient clinics as appropriate in order to provide pharmaceutical advice to prescribers and other health care professionals.

Use available information to influence prescribers and ensure the most cost-effective choice of therapy. Liaise with external agencies to ensure safe, timely and appropriate supply to patients eg Baxter, Homecare companies etc, where appropriate.

Actively contribute to the planning and efficient co-ordination of clinical pharmacy initiatives including discharge planning, prescribing protocols, pharmacists on consultant ward rounds etc.

With the rest of the members of the clinical pharmacy team to support the strategic developments of the service e.g. electronic prescribing, improved discharge processes, accredited technician checking etc.

Experience of working in clinical pharmacy in a hospital environment essential.

Experience of working in ophthalmology (desired) or with high cost drugs (essential).

Knowledge of working with Cerner millennium and Medisoft (desired).
