Meet the development needs of young people, including promoting self-esteem and protection of young peoples rights. To reduce social isolation, signposting the young adults with the appropriate community service.Ensure young people in all areas have access to activities and craft equipment, undertaking risk assessments where necessary.Co-ordinate a program of activities, both inpatient and outpatient, and co-ordination input from other disciplines, eg art therapy.Ensure the environment is conductive to meeting the needs of young people, highlighting issues to the line manager as necessary.Work in partnership with the community youth services, signposting young people on discharge to these or other relevant services, e.g. voluntary sector.Supporting teenagers, young adults and families under stress and in crisis. Make appropriate referrals to the psychosocial team.Management, Training & LeadershipMaintain own learning through reading and attending study days and conferences.Encourage nursing/ play specialist student training, through teaching the value of recreational activity for young people in hospital.Support the education of qualified nurses and other professionals to the recreational needs of young people and the role of the support and activity coordinator.Attend mandatory training and ensure safeguarding training is fully updated.Finance and BudgetResponsible for maintaining stock, advertising on resources and meet the needs of the service area.Responsible of maintaining activities and recreational equipment in accordance with SBUHB health and standards.
