Job Description Summary:
Blade Specialist UK
We are looking for a blade specialist to provide technical expertise on blade inspection and repair and to assist with ensuring VRUK manage a portfolio of approx. 500MW renewable assets (wind and solar) safely and efficiently in compliance with UK law, permits and corporate procedures.
**Job Description**:
Main Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, identify and quantify blade damage during Blade inspection and on Wind Turbines as directed by the Site ManagerPerform blade repairs and blade retrofit activities using industry best practices, perform quality control inspections on repairs, maintenance functions provided by maintenance or repair sub-contractors,.- Prepare and maintain proper documentation to support the repairs, including parts usage and time worked. Concise reports regarding inspections to ensure proper steps are taken to remedy any deficiencies.- Analyze collected data and complete technical failure and repair reports.- Identify room for improvement throughout quality inspections.- Comply with all Safety policies and procedures and report any violation to the Site Manager immediately.- Complete turbine inspections when necessary from mechanical part to electrical.- Perform End of Warranty inspections for Falck and third party clients.- Be able to use composite materials such as fiberglass, resins and adhesives for wet lay ups, drill, resin inject, and FRP reassembly processes with proper PPE and material safety practices.- Support Site managers when necessary as vacation periods or to organize Quality inspections.
Desired requirements:
- General knowledge and understanding of composite materials and blade structures.- Electrical or mechanical technical school or higher.- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.- Ability to climb extreme heights, physically in good shape and able to pass Human Performance Evaluation and Physical.- IT literate with advanced skills and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint.- Must be a team player and have good initiative.- Driving licence essential- GWO basic safety, GWO blade repair, IPAF PAL/MEWP operator training
