This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the work of the Bangor Branch of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and to contribute to the aim of strengthening Bangor University's position as the leading provider of higher education through the medium of Welsh.
The main responsibility of the Branch Officer will be to ensure that Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol plans are successfully implemented at Bangor University by regular engagement with students and close collaboration with staff responsible for planning, promoting and upholding the Welsh-medium provision.
The full-time post, which is funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, is based at Canolfan Bedwyr (the university’s centre for Welsh language services, technology and research).
The ability to communicate effectively through the medium of Welsh is essential for this post.

Overview
The aim of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is to ensure the right for students to receive a first class higher education through the medium of Welsh. The College works in partnership with Welsh universities to:
Ensure more study opportunities for students through the medium of Welsh;
Fund undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships;
Support students studying courses through the medium of Welsh and increase the number of students who choose to study all or part of their course through the medium of Welsh;
Develop world-class modules, courses and Welsh resources for students.
The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol works through branches located at Welsh universities. The branches aim to support the work of the College and act as a local point of contact for students. The Bangor University Branch is based at Canolfan Bedwyr.
Canolfan Bedwyr is the University's Centre for Welsh Language Services, Technology and Research. The centre is the focal point of Bangor University's strategic plans for the Welsh language, with responsibility for developing and supporting Welsh-medium provision, facilitating the use of the language across the institution and contributing to the development of Welsh across the region.
The Work
The main responsibility of the Branch Officer will be to ensure that Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol plans are successfully implemented at Bangor University by regular engagement with students and close collaboration with the staff responsible for planning, promoting and upholding the Welsh-medium provision.
The post is funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
Main
**Responsibilities**:
Assist in the implementation of Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol's branch level plans and communicate them clearly to colleagues within the University.
To co-ordinate the work of the Coleg branch under the leadership of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Welsh and the Branch Chair.
To provide the secretariat to all branch committees.
To act as the main point of contact between the College and the branch in relation to day to day matters.
Coordinate institutional representation on College committees and national structures and coordinate institutional response.
To submit monitoring reports, and to ensure that individual academic schools understand and comply with the terms of College plans.
Co-ordinate Welsh-medium activities for Welcome Week and prepare a Welsh and Bilingual Module Handbook for distribution to first years.
Liaise with colleagues within the University in relation to the College's promotion and communication activities, including the staff development program.
Act as the main liaison between the College and the University Planning Office on data issues.
Ensure high profile College presence at events hosted by academic schools and centrally by the University.
Organize and coordinate all uses of the branch learning space.
Maintain branch presence on the web and social media.
Attend regular branch officer meetings nationally.
Respond to any new developments that may arise in the work of the Branch and to any reasonable requirements of the head of team or Director of Canolfan Bedwyr.
The post holder will be part of Canolfan Bedwyr's Policy and Development team.
