**Job summary**:
This an exciting time to work for the Department for Business and Trade, as the UK continues to develop its trade policy, and negotiate trade deals with countries around the world.

This is a challenging role within our Employee Experience and Engagement Team requiring strong communication skills and an in-depth understanding of how inclusion can influence the experience of employees and attract and retain the right talent.

This role, whilst offering opportunities to lead your own projects, also focuses on building inclusion capability and delivery through others with line management responsibility and an expectation of leadership across the team. Part of the role will involve project management, tracking milestones and deliverables and identifying risks from across the Employee Experience and Engagement team to deliver our DBT People Plan ambitions.

In addition, there’s a focus on using strong data and research to achieve more diverse & inclusive recruitment and career development outcomes. This supports us to deliver our ambitious Trade agenda and ultimately do our best for UK businesses. Working alongside comms and engagement colleagues, you will evaluate the success of interventions and take targeted action to address specific gaps or issues.

This offers you the opportunity for varied and innovative work with a large number of stakeholders across DBT and 1HMG. Senior stakeholder management and staff network relationships will be a key component of this role.

You will be an integral member of the team providing coaching support and advice at key stages of project lifecycles including: scoping, planning, delivery, risk management and evaluation. You will support stakeholders and DBT’s senior leadership to make informed decisions based on robust evidence and data sets. You will: advise on and support the shaping of key performance indicators; facilitate and improve progress reporting; and lead detailed evaluations producing advice on next steps and lessons learned for future projects. Your work will directly feed into targeted “You said, we did” style communications to stakeholders and the wider Department

**Job description**:

- You’ll be a valued part of a passionate, pragmatic and knowledgeable team of 8 who are working together to support and up-skill the Department to collaboratively build an engaged and inclusive culture.
- You will be encouraged to take the initiative, whilst being supported and developed to deliver your responsibilities in a way that’s tailored to your working style and needs.
- You will use data to identify areas of focus and develop potential solutions, including evidence-based projects and initiatives to address specific issues.
- You will deliver (both directly and through a direct report) high profile Departmental projects such as Gender Pay Gap.
- You will lead and continuously strive to improve relationships with the staff networks and senior champions, working to build capability and empowerment while at times needing to deliver difficult messages.
- Working in partnership with staff network chairs and champions, and senior sponsors and leadership you will provide updates and assurance via corporate governance boards using data insights.
- You will work closely with our team leaders on the priorities and act as an expert partner to teams across HR, advising and supporting them to improve D&I outcomes and impacts for their policies, products and services.
- You will oversee the achievement of project milestones, key performance indicators and objectives across the team using your expertise and governance tools.
- The aim is to thread engagement and inclusion through all areas of the DBT employee experience to achieve success, create the right foundations and environment for all of our people to thrive.
- You will be encouraged to think freely and innovatively about how to practically make this happen in the short, medium and long term.

**Hybrid working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be
