A new and exciting role has come to the Community Perinatal Mental Health Service..

The Engagement and Improvement Officer post is a non-clinical role that is to proactively engage with, develop relationships and support both the health services (GP, Health Visitors, Family Hub etc) and those in the local community to better understand the Perinatal Mental Health Service, and what support we provide; specifically reaching out to those in marginalised communities, low referral rate areas and areas of high mental health stigma.

The post holder will play a vital role in linking services together to ensure high quality and seamless care and to ensure any feedback, data and projects is used as part of improvements in the service.

The post holder is responsible for networking, linking community services with our educational lead for training opportunities, community research to understand low referral rates, and to support the team in understanding the difficulties the communities may face in accessing our service;
We want to ensure that all services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight feel confident to refer into our service and also that services feel informed and confident in what the Community Perinatal Mental Health Team provides. The post holder will ensure professionals and public's queries, feedback and experiences are captured and listened to and is apart of the continued development of the service.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:

- To introduce their role, arrange to meet and build key relationships with local services, GP, Family Hubs, Midwives, Health Visitors, Social Care, Charity Sectors etc and all those able to refer into the PMHT, as well as community groups.
- To be creative, innovative, and passionate.
- To be self-motivated and follow through on all projects in a timely manner or working to a deadline.
- To research the local barriers to accessing the PMHT.
- To support services in normalising mental health and parenting.
- To share the feedback, experiences and views or marginalised communities.
- To identify opportunities and ways of engaging local people and teams through; focus groups, listening events, service meetings.
- To lead with community activities to promote the PMHT and their aims, to support people to understand how their experience and feedback will be used and to support partnership working between services.
- To take part in auditing, data gathering and report writing.
- To be creative and innovative in developing the post in the team.
- To work with the educational lead and communities to ensure services have PMHT training opportunities offered to them.
- To demonstrate skills and resourcefulness in communication where there are barriers.
- To develop knowledge in challenges relating to mental health difficulties presenting in the perinatal period.
- Effectively and efficiently deal with correspondence, calls and recording keeping.

The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
