**Purpose**

The Training and Recruitment Officer will primarily conduct all aspects of PCV driving licence acquisition training (theory and practical) in a safe and professional manner, striving for the highest standards in road safety and customer care. The Training and Recruitment Officer will also deliver any non-driver training as and when the requirement arises, ensuring all our people are fully equipped for their roles.
- Conduct all aspects of PCV driving licence acquisition training (theory and practical) in a safe and professional manner, striving for the highest standards in road safety and customer service.
- Act as a ‘trained trainer’ for a wide variety of non-driver training whenever the requirement arises.
- Conduct regular driving assessments and remedial training to improve all aspects of driver performance.
- Instruct trainee drivers to DVSA test standard, carrying out practical driving assessments and delivering course training materials with a high degree of detail.
- Deliver all aspects of classroom-based training and induction, including driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) periodic training.
- Undertake regular Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to ensure excellent knowledge of new legislation and best practice.
- Maintain accurate records for all aspects of training and recruitment delivery using both paper and electronic systems.
- Assist with incident investigations using extensive knowledge of driver behaviour and driving standards.
- Providing updates and escalating key issues or concerns to the wider management team.
- Liaise with operations and HR colleagues about all aspects of recruitment activity, including assessments, interviews, and compliance checks (medical, drug and alcohol).
- Engage front line colleagues though effective communication, active listening, and recognition.
- Work alongside head office, operational, and engineering team members, fostering excellent working relationships to effectively manage all aspects of training and recruitment delivery.
- Ensure an effective working relationship with recognised trade union representatives and officials.
- Other duties commensurate with the role as may be deemed appropriate by the line manager.

**Knowledge & Experience Requirements**
- Must have held a minimum of a Category D driving entitlement for over 3 years.
- Must have valid driver CPC training.
- Previous experience in a driver training environment.
- High motivation to achieve stretching targets connected with recruitment and training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective listener with the ability to empathise and treat others with respect.
- Ability to use own initiative to resolve issues.
- Computer literate with the willingness to embrace new technology.
- Ability to effectively assess situations quickly and to react appropriately when under pressure.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, performance indicators and company procedures and agreements relating to service delivery.

**Hours & Salary**
- Full or part time to be discussed at interview
- £33,534.32 - for the full time position
