An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join the national Health and Justice non-custodial team.

The Health and Justice and Armed Forces health teams are responsible for the commissioning of specialised healthcare services for people in touch with the Criminal Justice System (Pre and post-custody, prisons, immigration centres, secure children’s facilities, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres), and for serving members of the armed forces, veterans, and their families. The teams are split across the regions for operational delivery of services and supported by a national commissioning function.

The Project Support Officer will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the non-custodial Health and Justice national team and will report to the Long-Term Plan Projects Officer.

Please note that this role has an expectation of attending the London office 2 days a week. Wellington House133-155 Waterloo Rd, London SE1 8UG.

This role is hosted by Arden and GEM CSU on behalf of NHSE and is fixed term for 6 months.

The post will provide support to the wider non-custodial team who are part of the wider Health and Justice and Armed Forces Directorate responsible for multiple programmes. The non-custodial portfolio covers pre
- and post-custody health and justice services, which include Liaison and Diversion (L&D), Courts Healthcare, Mental Health Treatment Requirements (MHTR’s), and RECONNECT.

**The non-custodial team’s programmes of work include**:

- L&D services identify people with health and other vulnerabilities who are in police custody, courts and community settings and make assessments and referrals to community services.
- Courts Healthcare services provide healthcare advice via a medical advice helpline to provide triage and assessment for individuals and determine the appropriate response.
- MHTR services is a possible treatment requirement that may be given to someone as part of a court-sentenced community order, that directly delivers psychological interventions and support.
- RECONNECT services focus on supporting people as they leave prisons or immigration removal centres to support continuity of care with community healthcare.
- Enhanced RECONNECT services focus on supporting high risk individuals with complex health needs as they leave prisons to support continuity of care with community healthcare and provide clinical interventions where they do not meet the threshold or are deemed to high risk for community mental health services.

**The Postholder will**:

- Provide and coordinate administrative and secretarial services; including for example, the preparation of agendas and minutes, taking appropriate follow-up action as required.
- Arrange meetings, meeting rooms / external venues using NHS England’s booking system, meeting logistics and equipment, travel requirements, travel tickets, hotel bookings if required.
- Maintain a version-controlled filing system for all programme documentation including the Programme Definition and plan on a page.
- Communicate in a courteous, timely and effective manner with programme team members and stakeholders, to ensure that the goals and approach of the programme are made clear and to ensure that the programme speaks with one voice.
- Take a pro-active approach to problem identification, resolution and quality improvement.
- Support the team with the management of projects, gathering information and undertaking enquiries.
- Contribute to the work of the programme, by providing insight from previous programme administration or health service roles, to help to improve the quality of delivery and outputs from the programme.
- Support any activities that the Senior Programme Lead leads on that may have time critical time constraints
- Deal with matters arising as directed or using your own initiative within the parameters agreed with the national programme lead, to achieve the objectives of the programme.
