**Core elements**:
We are recruiting for a complex care supported living service for individuals with severe learning disabilities, Epilepsey and autistic spectrum condition. Desired knowledge, skills and experience include:

- Supporting service users to engage with activities of daily living (e.g., cooking and cleaning), home activity planning, and community access (e.g. shopping, swimming, local disco, pubs, etc)
- Working within the positive behaviour support framework and in accordance with agreed support plans and risk assessments to proactively prevent behaviour incidents, including use of de-escalation techniques to avoid behavioural crisis incidents.
- Use of autism-friendly approaches, including effective verbal communication, visual aids (e.g. symbols, schedules, traffic lights, social stories, etc), intensive interaction, and integrating a sensory diet within a person’s daily life
- Completing accurate and detailed daily documentation of care and support provided, e.g., activities, mood, significant events, behaviour incidents, etc.
- Working with the families of our service users, communicating regularly, and maintaining positive working relationships.

**How to support me**:

- I can use single words and 2-3 word phrases to express my wants and needs. Most of my communication is non-verbal, such as pointing, leading somebody to what I want, tone of vocalisations, body language, facial expressions, etc.
- I respond well to verbal and visual ‘now and next’ schedules, e.g. “Now breakfast, next is shower”.
- I like to have two options for food, drinks, clothing, activities, etc.
- I need support staff who know me well and are able to help me make everyday choices and decisions in my best interests.
- I like to play hand clapping games (e.g. ‘patty cake’) with people and copy sounds they make (e.g. popping or clicking sounds, whistling, etc.), or sing songs I like with others. I have a really good sense of pitch and can copy melodies well.
- I enjoy playing ball games with people and watching others play ball games. I have great hand to eye coordination and am very good at catching
- I also enjoy going out and about in my car with my support staff, such as to McDonald’s drive thru, and driving round to see the local area. I too enjoy swimming with my staff and visiting my parent’s home.

**You will**:

- Have experience and knowledge of severe learning disabilities, epilepsy and autistic spectrum condition.

**Liberty Complex Support Pay Banding**:

- £10 per hour - willing to work towards care certificate standards, 0-1 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc.
- £11 per hour - NVQ Level 2 or equivalent - or willing to work towards this. Care Certificate Standards completed, and 2 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc.
- £12 per hour - NVQ Level 3 or equivalent - or willing to work towards this. Care Certificate Standards completed and 3 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc. Completed or willing to complete adult safeguarding level 3 training.
