**Job summary**:
**_ The Regional Engagement Support Officer is an important role that will assist with the development and delivery of the UKHSA West Midlands regional engagement strategy as well as the maintenance of key strategic relationships. _**

**_The postholder will assist with the delivery of the regional engagement strategy and its outputs and outcomes, including supporting the implementation of high quality impactful engagement plans across the regional teams, developing and maintaining the mapping of stakeholders, maintenance of appropriate governance and assurance, monitor progress, assist risk management and issues resolution and assist with the delivery of the change required so that the strategy is fully embedded into UKHSAs working arrangements and positively felt. _**

**Job description**:
**As the Regional Engagement Support Officer**_ _**your main responsibilities will include**:
**Engagement and Partnerships**
- Support the delivery and implementation of the regional engagement strategy.
- Support the directorate to coordinate interaction, negotiation and co-production with a wide variety of people/groups in the delivery of an overarching engagement strategy for the key agency priorities which enable delivery of all health hazards approach.
- Support the co-ordination of a robust regional stakeholder map based on existing relationships. Assist the analysis and reporting of past performance to assess future relationship and engagement requirements to inform programme development.
- Assist the coordination and implementation of engagement plans and facilitate, influence, and support the development of new health security system policies, strategies, and guidance across UKHSA teams for all hazards.
- Support regular contact with internal and external stakeholders. Support the promotion of resilience and responsiveness in the organisation by being open and honest about challenges, and the actions required to address unexpected developments.
- Facilitate and maintain effective feedback systems and networks to local partners to keep them abreast of developments and opportunities to engage in the work of UKHSA.
- Coordinate regular engagement across Whitehall, Policy and Strategy directorates for policy co-design, in addition to UKHSA CEO led meetings with senior external stakeholders.

**Key Result Areas and Performance**
- Support the co-ordination for the planning, design, delivery and co-ordination of a regular programme of stakeholder engagement events and provide feedback on engagement activity.
- Coordinate and support engagement workstreams to assist the development of regional engagement plan.
- Develop a strong knowledge of emerging policies in order to support partners across the system
- Support the development, consultation, implementation and evaluation of engagement strategies, plans and programmes that support the work of the UKHSA. Support listening events, round tables and focus groups
- Undertake primary research and support the drafting of policy and strategy documents and evaluation plans and assist in engagement/co-production as these strategies, plans and programmes are developed and delivered.
- Support the preparation, management and distribution of a range of products which may include policy position papers and correspondence to staff and key stakeholders.
- Participate and collaborate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide project information and advice and expertise.

**Leadership and Management**
- Demonstrate positive leadership and ensure appropriate behaviours in both day-to-day operations and in high risk, difficult and stressful situations. Be flexible by demonstrating appropriate leadership styles and adapting communication to match the situation(s).
- Effective line management of staff to ensure flexibility and capacity to meet the team’s needs. This role will include support and ongoing performance discussions, including setting clear objectives and enabling staff to meet these with access to appropriate training and development opportunities.
- Responsible for recruitment and selection, induction, undertaking appraisal and personal development and managing any employee relations issues within the team.
