The purpose of the post is to support the Diabetes specialist team to care for women with Diabetes in pregnancy. This will ensure that every woman receives high quality care throughout their maternity journey.

In line with Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle V3 and the requirements of the Ockenden Report.

The CMS will liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of reliable high-quality care.

The team consists of 3 midwives Obstetricians and Diabetologists and provides care for women at 2 consultant led sites.

Act as the clinical expert and professional resource for women with diabetes in pregnancy and the multi-professional team

As a first point of contact you will provide professional advice, support, guidance and education to, patients and carers within their specialist service

Be responsible for leading, managing and developing a specialist clinical service and team, managing women with diabetes in pregnancy and providing specialist advice within their clinical area.

Be responsible for leading the direction of the Specialist Midwifery service to both support and complement the CMG’s business plans.

Ensure the delivery of the highest quality, clinical effective care, and patient experience, prioritising and utilising research and in collaboration with colleagues in everyday practice.

Promote and lead the development and delivery of a programme of practice and professional development for staff within the speciality.

Participate in the delivery of interagency / multi-professional training.

The role encompasses liaison with other agencies as well as teaching, support and empowerment of all clinicians involved in maternity care including: obstetricians, midwives, student midwives, and maternity support workers.
