- An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Waiting List Administrator within the Maternity Department. This role will be based at City Campus however cross site working may be required. You will assist in the continued roll out and implementation of a new digital booking process for all Elective C-Sections and induction of Labour._
- You will be responsible for supporting the Waiting List Coordinator in managing and maintaining the waiting lists across both sites. This is a new role so will give the successful applicant the ability to shape this role going forward and be part of ongoing changes within the Maternity Service._

As part of a team, the post holder will support the Planned Elective Activity Coordinator for the management of the inpatient planned activity lists and Induction of labour at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, in accordance with Government Access Targets and Trust’s Access Policy. You will work with the Planned Elective Activity Coordinator ensuring that there is an efficient and effective use of available resources at all times.

You will book elective TCI dates and associated pre-operative assessment clinics and transport. The post holder will also play a key central role within the service and is required to work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and the general public.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Adding/removing patients to the NUH waiting list and co-ordinating/booking their admission to hospital, using hospital IT systems e.g. Medway PAS

Working to agreed protocols to negotiate patient admissions for inpatient and day surgery procedures and minor procedure treatments.

Ensure all relevant patient information is recorded on the Trust’s IT systems and updated accordingly in line with Trust Access Policy and Procedures

Ensure adherence to the Trust Waiting List Policy with regard to National and Trust Targets for waiting times

Provide non-clinical advice regarding hospital admission to patients seeking further advice from the Consultants or lead nurses as required

Liaise with clinical staff to ensure the availability of any specialist equipment as required.

Ensure any patients who have not responded to letters, or do not attend pre-operative assessment clinics are contacted in line with the Trust Waiting List Policy.

Work flexibly and provide cross cover for colleagues in the Directorate.

Undertake any other duties and responsibilities, which may reasonably be required.

Deputise for the Waiting List Co-ordinator where appropriate

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Good command of the English language - both written and spoken. GCSE Level or equivalent standard in Maths/English

Desirable criteria
- Experience of hospital systems such as MEDWAY PAS,, NOTIS and Medical Office.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Demonstrate knowledge of waiting list processes
- Recent past NHS experience

Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Trust’s Patient Access Policy

Communication

Essential criteria
- Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels in a hospital environment
- Ability to deal tactfully with a wide range of people including patients
- Ability to priorities work and use initiative

Judgement skills

Essential criteria
- Able to use judgement to make decisions in order to solve problems / enquiries escalating as appropriate to the Waiting List Co-ordinator

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
