The post holder will be required to work within the Nottingham University Hospital’s Plastics, Burns and Sarcoma Department at the City campus and take responsibility for: managing the inpatient and day case waiting lists in accordance with the Trust waiting list targets, and handling associated telephone calls.

A good telephone manner with the ability to show initiative and flexibility in answering queries from patients, nursing staff and doctors is essential as well as an efficient and empathetic manner

Main duties of the job

Responsible for adding/removing patients to the NUH waiting list, requesting pre-operative assessments and co-ordinating/booking admission to hospital, using hospital IT systems, e.g. Careflow and Bluespier.

Placing funding requests for patient procedures with the appropriate Integrated Care Board.

Responsible for management and accurate validation of consultant waiting lists in line with 18 week RTT targets, maintaining accurate records to ensure all admissions for elective procedures are outcomed and completed on Medway PAS, in line with the Trust Access Policy.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Good command of the English language - both written and spoken. GCSE Level or equivalent standard in Maths/English
- NVQ Level 2/3 Business Admin

Desirable criteria
- Experience of hospital systems such as MEDWAY NOTIS and Medical Office.

Experience

Essential criteria
- A recent past NHS experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of waiting list processes
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality

Desirable criteria
- 18 week RTT knowledge and experience

Communication and relationship

Essential criteria
- Ability to develop good working relationships with medical and other hospital staff at all levels
- Willing and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise workload and use own initiative
- Ability to communicate verbally in a clear and effective way both face to face and on the telephone

Planning and organisation

Essential criteria
- Works within prescribed deadlines
- Consistently works to high standards
- Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule

Physical skills

Essential criteria
- Frequent use of VDU equipment
