**Apprentice Piling Operative (Construction - site based)**

Piling is the stage of the construction process, whereby the foundations are formed below the ground to provide support to the structure above this. We currently have 6 entry level vacancies in our Piling team.

As a Piling Apprentice, you will gain hands on experience and formal training by working alongside our knowledgeable Piling experts within the Skanska Cementation family.

**What you’ll learn to do**:

- Develop knowledge and experience in the various techniques in boring and forming piles in the ground
- Guide and control the movement of our specialist plant and machinery, to form & Construct large diameter piles, that are capable of have working capacities of several thousand tons, together with mini-piling and Ground Engineering equipment
- Operate powered units, tools, machinery and equipment specific to piling operations, e.g. concrete pumps, fluid systems required for Piling
- Undertake mandatory training required for the role e.g., Manual Handling, Working at Height, and Health & Safety awareness, as well the use of powered hand tools and basic plant maintenance
- You will receive training to enable you to operate basic plant and machinery and gain the following industry recognised CPCS Cards and categories, including A40A Slinger Signaller & A73 Plant/Vehicle Marshaller, enabling you to work with the Cranes and Plant needed in this heavy-duty industry.

**Location**

You will be predominately based in the South of England (including London), however, due to the nature of construction and piling, you will need to be prepared to work anywhere in the UK and work away from home. We will provide financial assistance with accommodation/travel when working an unreasonable distance from home.

**Starting salary**:£18,000 + great earning potential when you become trained and qualified.
