We are looking for **Patient Safety Specialists **for our NHS client of North Tees and Harlepool.

**Job Purpose**:
~ Work as part of a dynamic team delivering an effective service supporting staff and patients across the Trust. Within the Nursing, Patient Safety and Quality Directorate, the post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of a range of services designed to improve patient safety and build on successes
~ Develop and maintain the patient safety culture within the organisation ensuring resilience and continuity of the process
~ Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to Patient Safety ensuring the delivery is reported through the organisations agreed structures and processes
~ Develop and promote organisational duties around patient safety and escalate immediate risks to Director level
~ Have an overview of and ability to influence and interact with all patient safety processes within the organisation
~ Maintain Compliance and Performance in respect of Patient Safety in line with advice from legislatory and non-legislatory bodies
~ To promote the need to keep patients and the public at the heart of the Trust activity, maximising the impact of feedback in the delivery of high quality services and care with the aim of bringing about real improvements in services and by championing the interests of people who deliver and experience the care within the organisation

Key Responsibilities:
~ Thematic analysis of incidents, complaints etc. and present options to improve patient safety and the patient experience
~ Supporting staff in and during the investigation of Patient Safety incidents
~ Contribute to Trust and Department key high level objectives ensuring that it is underpinned by team objectives that deliver the business, transformation and performance requirements developing expertise in all aspects of patient safety science, such as human factors, systems thinking, investigation, quality improvement, change management, prospective and reactive risk analysis and management, error theory and just culture
~ Develop and embed Safety 2 in the organisation
~ Interpret national advice, guidance and requirements and advise the trust on how these should be implemented
~ Develop and communicate a long-term vision for patient safety and convert into plans, objectives and deliverables for the organisation
~ Ensure the collection and analysis data on protected characteristics, and support a wider understanding of the impact of discrimination and bias on the safety of patients
~ Use established networks and create new ones to share good practice
~ Analysis of complex information, including patient safety incident data, administrative data, mortality data
~ Support and develop the Patients Safety Partner role in the organisation
~ Lead on the development and implementation policies and procedures relating to Patient Safety ensuring the delivery is reported through the organisations agreed structures and processes
~ Support the Care Groups to develop and maintain robust internal systems for aspects of governance escalating were necessary
~ Support and where appropriate lead the development and delivery of work streams focused upon the improvement of patient safety
~ Deliver structure and procedures associated with changes in national guidance within timescales

**Qualifications**:
~ Educated to Masters level or equivalent
~ Evidence of recent professional development

**Experience**:
~ Experience of working in a patient safety related role
~ Experience in policy and strategy development
~ Knowledge and experience of Accessibility Standards and reasonable adjustments
~ Experience of working with external agencies and influencing internal change
~ Significant knowledge of national patient safety policy and strategy, and levers for change in the NHS system
~ Knowledge of safeguarding and the legal duties expected of NHS Organisations
~ Knowledge and understanding of the Equalities Act 2010

**Skills**:
~ Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
~ Ability to engage staff and work collaboratively
~ Experience of dealing with members of the public
~ Computer literate especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
~ Budgetary management
~ Excellent presentation skills with the ability to adapt presentations to different types of attendees, i.e. stakeholders, vulnerable groups, team members

** Temporary contract for 6 months, On site initially with potential view to move to hybrid, with £20-25/h**

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
